So yeah....

President Trump hung a portrait of Andrew Jackson in the Oval Office on Tuesday, The New York Times reports, an apparent nod to the populist sentiments of the new administration.

Trump's rise has often been compared to the populist election of Jackson, including by some of the new president's own team.

Chief White House strategist Steve Bannon called Trump’s inauguration speech on Friday “Jacksonian,” saying it struck the populist and patriotic tones Jackson was known for.

Trump has also expressed admiration for the seventh president, as well, calling Jackson “an amazing figure in American history — very unique so many ways,” through a spokesperson last week.

...Jackson was another racist president, ultimately censured by Congress for withholding documents, and who directed the removal of nearly 50,000 Cherokees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, and Muscogee-Creeks from their ancestral lands in a forced death march which killed over a third of them. He persisted with the enforcement of the 'Indian Removal Act,' even though the Supreme Court had ruled and declared it unconstitutional.

.....it's Andrew Jackson.

We'll trade Republicans Andrew Jackson for a Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt or maybe an Eisenhower. How 'bout it?

There's the time he beat a man with his hickory cane, but the guy had just tried to assassinate him.

Then there were all those gun duels he liked to participate in.

a quick google search for "insane" turns up only sites like, um, thechive -- not very "solid".

though there are plenty that talk about his raging temper and violence. they don't call it a mental illness, but i think there's at least a case for bipolar disorder and/or narcissistic personality disorder.

i may dig a little more when i have more time....

"trail of tears" will encompass many cultures and races.....methinks. I see camps for reeducation and indoctrination on the merits and alleged truths of white supremacy...especially if Alec Jones, Rush Limbaugh and bannon get their heads together to deal with all the 'minority' people(s).

I'm certain Trump's motives are hardly any deeper than that.

Anyone other than a white guy decorating our currency would be sacrilege.

The U.S. dollar is Trump's god.

His inaugural bash left the symbol of the White House a wreck. There were drunken revelers in the lobby and boozers romping through the bedrooms.

After Jackson’s swearing-in ceremony and address to Congress, the new president returned to the White House to meet and greet a flock of politicians, celebrities and citizens. Very shortly, the crowd swelled to more than 20,000, turning the usually dignified White House into a boisterous mob scene. Some guests stood on furniture in muddy shoes while others rummaged through rooms looking for the president–breaking dishes, crystal and grinding food into the carpet along the way. (White House staff reported the carpets smelled of cheese for months after the party.) In an attempt to draw partygoers out of the building, servants set up washtubs full of juice and whiskey on the White House lawn.
