Better with, or better without?

Now that Trump's sanity is being discussed in the MSM, along with references to the 25th amendment, the question may very well be, are we better off (relatively speaking) with trump or better off without him? Keith Olbermann stated outright in his video the other day that we would be better off with an extreme right-wing but otherwise sane Mike Pence than with a deranged trump. I'm undecided on this.

True, trump is dangerous. Evil, hateful, cruel, deranged, delusional. Plus he has small hands. And, yes, he and his craven, sycophantic minions, including Pence, have been successful in diverting everyone's attention from important issues - not every day but seemingly every single fucking hour. That said, we know he's certifiable, and some republicans are slowing assimilating this reality. So you have to wonder what impact this will have on actually getting legislation passed to accomplish all of his insane executive orders. With a seemingly rational, but most definitely extremist fundamentalist, Mike Pence, there would be more of a tendency to attempt to negotiation, compromise, etc. And there may very well be a greater likelihood that an extremist agenda can be sustained over four years.

Of course, if trump is "deposed," you have that hanging over the republicans for the balance of the next four years. As in, look folks, you couldn't trust republicans on trump, why do you think you can trust them now. With sustained protest and resistance, and a powerful DNC (I know, yeah right), we may come out ahead.

So, what do you think?

He doesn't inspire the passion in the nutcases that Trump does. Not all trumpets are fundies.

The only benefit I see without Trump is maybe a reduced risk of harm on a global scale. He's going to get us in a war we can't easily get out of with a lot of casualties, or he will isolate us and create such a hatred towards us that if the US gets into something, say like a pandemic, will the rest of the world try to help us? We won't all be in it together. Because dumpy isolated us and made us a bad neighbor.

But Pence would do all of the christian conservative things happening now and more. True moral legislation would be his priority.

Those things, however, could be reversed with a change in power. Wars and death, not so easily reversed.

A couple of reasons:

1. Trump's documentable, delusional insanity is a very serious concern in terms of national security and international relations.

2. As unpalatable as President Pence seems, he'd no longer have Trump's volatile behavior as a smokescreen for his own actions. Anything they try pulling would be out in the open, without the external drama.

3. If Trump is impeached and removed, resigns or is 25-4'ed, it's a major stain on the party that brought him to power and his former running mate that's not going to be easy to remove. If it all goes down before 2018 it could benefit Democrats greatly in the midterm elections. And it would definitely help our chances in the 2020 presidential election, which I don't know would even take place under President Trump but I'm pretty confident they will under President Pence.

The way I see it, both Pence and Trump are poisonous snakes, and no one in their right mind wants to be bitten by a poisonous snake. But Pence is like a copperhead--his venom is weaker and slower moving. Trump is like a black mamba, whose venom could kill you within an hour of its bite.
