Each member of Mitten's short list for VP has problems...

They each have some significant Achilles heels:

Rob Portman--He was Bush's budget director--if they are going to run a campaign about how Obama is big spender--how are they going to defend selecting as VP a guy who was budget director for a president who took the biggest surplus in US history--under President Clinton--to the biggest deficit in US history--Dumbya.

Tim Pawlenty--yes, he is boring, but furthermore he is a big example of what GOP policies are all about. Neglecting our infrastructure at home to pay for tax cuts for the rich. Remember the Minnesota Bridge disaster of 2007--Pawlenty knew it was unstable and twice vetoed a bill to provide funds for infrastructue rebuilding.

Condi--We go all out on the Bush foreign policy that got us bogged down in Iraq.

Marco Rubio--He spent $100,000 on a state credit card apparently for personal use.

Paul Ryan--The Ryan budget--cutting social security and Medicare as we know it to provide more tax cuts to corporations and millionaires.

pick the one with the least baggage. I believe Condi Rice would be a game changer, and the least baggage. (looking at the perspective of a GOPer, Conservative independent.

Plus:

1 Women voters - independents would view this positively. Especially conservative Inde's.

2. Minority votes - Superficial (but that is how they think)

3 I don't believe the general public would blame her for what Bush did policy wise.

I'm more and more convinced he's evil enough to be the pick.

Pawlenty has already said no.

Rob Portman is so invisible in Ohio that many don't even know that's he's one of their senators. (Question there is why did they vote him in?)

Rubio billed the party for more than $100,000 during the two years he served as House speaker, according to credit card statements obtained by the St. Petersburg Times and Miami Herald. The charges included repairs to the family minivan, grocery bills, plane tickets for his wife and purchases from retailers ranging from a wine store near his home to Apple's online store. Rubio also charged the party for dozens of meals during the annual lawmaking session in Tallahassee, even though he received taxpayer subsidies for his meals.

Rubio said the billings all related to party business-- the minivan, for example, was damaged by a valet at a political function -- and that he repaid the party for about $16,000 in personal expenses.
