Is anyone else pissed off at those Exxon Mobil "Let's Solve This" ads?

You know the ones that advocate "investing in our teachers" and improving education in order to restore the US to the top tier of student performance in math & science.

A noble goal to be sure, but it would mean a hell of a lot more if Exxon Mobil and others like them paid anywhere near what they should in US taxes.

The hypocrisy is so obvious it's maddening.

I also hate the "clean energy" gas commercials. Trying to polish a turd for the future. Who needs clean drinking water anyway.

The only self-promos that even make any sense really are Rachel's. Tweety's are just stupid, and clearly not well thought out, in that he basically calls Obama a foreigner in our land because you know "in China you can't just go there and, y'know, become Chinese" then he points to the Whitehouse, "American exceptionalism." WTF! Don't they realize he just basically called Obama a foreigner.

MSNBC on-line videos is the only place I've seen the Exxon ad, and it just turns my stomach as well. Fortunately their talking heads aren't as oblivious as their ad group.

... after paying for lobbyists, lawyers, inflated executive salaries, dividends, exorbitant executive bonuses, advertising, public relations campaigns, trade association dues, campaign donations, sponsorship of political events, donations to PACs, bribery in foreign countries, etc., etc.

I don't think they are meant to considered, but rather just subliminally absorbed and accepted in between bullshit news clips. They are essentially hush money for the MSM. The irony in this case is the last thing the oil and gas industry wants is an educated public.
