The only solace I could see that Republicans could muster up is that if they brought up impeachment charges they would still have the House, Senate, and Executive Branch (also putting in a SC Justice.)

However I think they are scared of Trump voters. Now maybe they can calm them down by reminding them that the right still has all branches of Government.

Might this be the moment for President Obama to step in?

You know he might just do that...but not right away. Damn that guy had to deal with being in the Big Chair for 8 years. He just wants a break I'm sure.

At the same time he must be beside himself with what is going on. And who knows...he may jump in an lead a movement as a DNC Chair or something like that. He could easily do that, raise a billion in campaign funds, and freak the fuck out of the right wingers.

Like it or not, a big part of why we lost as a party was the very real fact that we pretty much gave the White male vote to Trump and the Republicans...another fact...about 70 percent of the voters in Presidential Elections are white, almost half of them are White Men. How can we expect to win elections if we ignore 35 percent of the voters, give the opposition that big of a headstart heading into the election?

Maybe, just maybe we should be looking for a leader of the party that would help bring a big portion of those white male (and some white female) voters back into our supposed big tent...someone cut from the same cloth as Hillary Clinton's running mate. The votes and issues of POC, LGBT, women, Musliims, and other groups are all important, and deserve to not just be heard, but dealt with in a way that creates true equal rights, priviledges and responsibilities for all, but think we learned in this last election, that alone those special interests groups are not enough to get us over the finish line...it is (like it or not) basic math.

Elections are won on the margins, and only when we all set aside our differences and work together can we deliver that extra 3-5 percent of voters that wins elections.

But here is what I do know....

I was all Hillary even back in 2008 until she lost in the Primary, then supported Obama then and in 2012. I was full on the Hillary Train this time around, put up over 24K tweets for her during primary and election. I also cautioned then, that I felt the party was making a mistake in not making more of an outreach to white male voters....and yes, I am a white male voter.

I know a lot of white men in my own community who felt disenfranchised...they did not vote for Trump, but they also did not vote for Hillary...they stayed home. We need the votes of thoser who stayed home, who hated Trump, but did not feel the Democratic Party and its candidates cared about their issues.

I think it is very dangerous to group white men into the Trump and/or Republican camp.

I am a white male, had no problem with Hillary, and wanted her as our next President.

Fact, as a clear thinking human being, I was a one issue voter this past election...the Supreme Court. Republicans controlled the highest court in the land for some 42 years....this election was OUR CHANCE to have that court in our hands for 25-40 years, and that knowledge would have seen me voting for who ever the Democrats put up for President. Sadly, we were all so busy fighting each other (Bernie Sanders and his crew, Stein and her lot, and lets not forget Johnson) that we ALL BLEW IT.

Which is why I keep saying...lets find the way to set our differences aside and work together to save America.

We were obsessing about how low Donald Trump was polling in various minority groups - he polled at like 0% with the Hispanic community, less than 10% among the black community and on and on. But we forgot that Donald Trump captured nearly 90% of the white male vote. And the racists, sexists, misogynists, and xenophobes are the ones who turned out in droves. It was the anti-PC election. And those are the people we need to start winning over, and it won't be easy.

The power players in our party need to stop fighting for control of the party, and the rest of us need to stop having a turf war in our party, and start working together now to create a Democratic Tsunami in 2018 Midterm Elections.

Fact...white, black, brown, Muslim, Jew, male, female, LGBT...we all have to come together and take back our country, and to do that, 2018 has to be the year we vote and elect Democrats and/or like minded Independents at the local, state and federal level. If we don't show up, kiss America goodbye, as the racists, bigots and uber rich will have won the war while destroying our nation.

We can posit that before the '18 elections many republicans in congress will be running scared of the taint of Trump. This gives the democrats a chance to join with those republicans and put through an impeachment in the House with the Senate agreeing. Since these republicans have the most to lose, i.e. the midterm and '20 elections, the democrats will have a chance to allow Trump to resign and not go through any impeachment. Pence himself may be too tied to Trump to survive the impeachment and have to step down, so Ryan will be the next president.
The democrats then can demand a good price for allowing Trump and Pence to resign, like demanding that Trump's cabinet resign and be replaced by democrats.

If he was impeached, the Republicans would make out that Trump was actually a Democrat, and they were only being held up at gunpoint.

That's why it is so important to keep referring to him as Republican President Trump.
