I see an opportunity

While I was in lurk mode after the election, I noticed something. We were blaming Stein for our loss. We were blaming Bernie. We were blaming the stars and the moon and anything else we could grasp in our devastation. What I didn't see is the true culprit (in my less than humble opinion), right wing propaganda.

We have attributed the white vote to ignorance. To economic failure. To racism. All true to some degree. However, I submit the real cause is propaganda.

FOX news posts the largest ratings in cable news (last I heard). Rush Limbaugh is on two or three stations in most markets. Yet study after study show that these people know less about current events and policy than those that don't watch the news at all. This is the crux of our problems. It is impossible to govern a people who live in two different realities. Which brings me to my point.

With Trump railing against the media, we have an opportunity to change this. The Democratic party needs to bring forth legislation regulating "news" to be factual. If the other side doesn't think the "news" is telling the truth, they should embrace legislation regulating it to be so. They will support a change to ABC News, for example, because it's so liberal (rolling eyes). What would actually be affected would be Brietbart, Drudge, FOX, etc.

Until this is accomplished, I see no hope. Therefore, I call for "Truth in Media" legislation. Now is the time. With conservative voters ire at the media, I believe the time is right to right this wrong. I'm calling my Rep and Dem Senator tomorrow....

You are correct that Right Wing Noise was a factor. The few votes that Jill Stein received I believe are not a reason to demonize her, but if folks want to that's up to them. Bernie didn't run in the General Election and supported the nominee (not sure what else he could have done. The hacking is a serious issue, voter suppression is likewise and both need to be addressed and I believe rapidly, but I believe the best place to start is with the DNC and a mirror. Changes need to be made internally and hopefully will be.

But I personally see right wing media as the crux of the issue. Due to FOX and a.m. radio, people believed there would be "death panels" in Obamacare. Obama would take all their guns. Etc., etc.,etc. This has got to stop if we want to make headway with vast portions of the electorate.
