The U.S. Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest and most versatile federal law enforcement agency.

Federal marshals have served the country since 1789, often in unseen but critical ways.

The Marshals Service occupies a uniquely central position in the federal justice system. It is the enforcement arm of the federal courts, involved in virtually every federal law enforcement initiative.

Presidentially appointed U.S. marshals direct the activities of 94 districts — one for each federal judicial district.

Approximately 3,752 deputy U.S. marshals and criminal investigators form the backbone of the agency.

The duties of the U.S. Marshals Service include protecting the federal judiciary, apprehending federal fugitives, managing and selling seized assets acquired by criminals through illegal activities, housing and transporting federal prisoners and operating the Witness Security Program.

The agency’s headquarters is just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

The United States Marshals Service (USMS) is a federal law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice (see 28 U.S.C. § 561). It is the oldest American federal law enforcement agency, which was created by the Judiciary Act of 1789. The Marshals Service is attached to the Judicial branch of government, and is the enforcement arm of the federal courts. It is the primary agency for fugitive operations, responsible for prisoner transport, the protection of officers of the court, and for the effective operation of the judiciary. The Marshals Service operates the Witness Protection Program, and serves federal level arrest warrants.

I plan on boycotting Dulles airport in the future. National and BWI are basically in the same place. It is the Dulles Airport Authority which is in direct violation of the court order. The court order allows anyone who is 'extra vetted' to have a lawyer present. Dulles is refusing to allow lawyers to see their clients. Do Not Use Dulles Airport!! A women and her two American citizen children were detained for 20 hours w/o food. These people are being coerced (strong armed) to sign documents waving their rights. Airport authorities are going on planes before people depart and taking cell phones from the accused. Such anti-American actions cannot be tolerated.

They have no say in the matter at all.

If he thinks Dulles, National Airport, and BWI are all in the same place, good luck making a connecting flight between any two of those airports.

Also, Dulles and National are both operated by the same authority, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority:

The article tries hard to leave us with the impression that they must be in violation of the court order, but I don't think that we know that to be the case at all.

Note that the order is that detainees with green cards must be accessible by these lawyers. If there aren't any such detainees at Dulles then they don't have to be given access to any other detainees.

IIRC, it was announced yesterday that the executive order does not apply to legal residents and that dozens had been let through.
