Ex-Trump executive: I knew he was ill for last 35 years

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/ex-trump-executive-knew-ill-35-years-article-1.2959293?cid=bitly

After reading Gersh Kuntzman's column about President Trump exhibiting signs of mental illness, former Trump construction manager Barbara Res emailed the following letter to the Daily News:

This is really ironic. Many years ago, I am going to say some time in 1982, The New York Times published a piece on narcissism. One member of our crew read the Times every day on the way to work and brought the article into the office.

Being the team who was charged with building Trump Tower, we all knew Donald Trump very well, especially myself. To a person, we all agreed that the characteristics outlined in the article fit Donald to a “T.” Now, 35 years later, professionals are saying what we knew back then. Only now he is so much worse.

It is gratifying to see a confirmation of our speculations. I pray America survives his presidency, for however long it lasts.

most candidates to be President. I have seen this on the far left and far right --- and narcissist or sociopath may be the most common. The worst use the DSM to try to "proof" that the candidate fits the definition.

The difference this time -- is that Trump may really be what was alleged. (Not to mention, this was someone who KNEW him rather than an armchair psychologist with no degree, who might never have even been in the same city as the candidate.)

..."I learned very quickly when I went back that you don’t talk back to him anymore,” she said. “If I had to tell him something, an idea of his was stupid or I didn’t want to do it, I would try to figure out a way to make him think that he had changed his mind, or that my idea was his idea, and I used to tell him how great he was and how great Ivana was all the time.”
Res explained that as Trump’s fame grew, his ability to withstand criticism—or even honesty—shrank. “He got too famous. He started believing his own shit,” she said. “He got way too famous and, you know, people were telling him he was great and he was buying that. He started thinking that he walked on water, he really did.”
......

“Now,” she said, “I don’t think he respects anybody. I don’t think there’s a person alive that he respects, because he thinks he’s God.”

Only 1/3 of this country had the simple common sense to vote for Hillary.

Trump EASILY speaks for the 1/3 that voted for him.

1/3 of the country either did not vote or voted third party and clearly were willing to accept him as POTUS.

We cant fight this until we accept the amormity of the mean/stupid in this country.

by stupid local election officials, poor technology, anachronistic rules and partisan gerrymandering. Now this cyberwarfare problem.

Read the article on my sig. Voters have very little to do with anything that happens in US leadership no matter who is in charge. Yet every day I hear things like Hillary was a bad candidate, or Trump's people are more passionate than Dems.

I refuse to accept the blame since it is out of our hands and has been for many many years, with no means of redress.

....by pointing out he never was one, at the Convention by old-fashioned smoke-filled room machinations, and again at the Electoral College. They OWN this catastrophe, every damn bit of it.

The rest of us did our very best to defeat him, and in fact the majority of Americans voted for Hillary Clinton.

Now we have to pick up our weary bones and engage in a battle we never thought would happen in real life. No, it is not our fault, nor is it Hillary's fault.

But here we are. Imua.

While it's true that there are things that happened that I don't know about that damaged liberals, while it's true that there are an incredible number of idiots and Reich-wingers, I personally think repukes, their complicit media and Putin's people are the causes.

So you and I seem to be in agreement there.

Imua is a Hawai'ian word meaning Forward, or Onward, and was the name or slogan of a labor union there a long time ago when I was a kid. It's been rattling around my head as the Resistance grows.

Have been looking to take over for decades. Then there are neo-liberals (obsfuscating word for "far righters interested in global wars", from my limited understanding).

Russian interests in destabilizing the U.S. would have been studying all of these movements and more, I have no doubt.

I'd like to be in Hawaii! I'll have to settle for a new word for now.

Why do you think he has been so successful? Trump represents what every Republican voter wants to become. They only see him as a success because no one has delved deep into his business relationships to examine how many times his social networks have bolstered him to avoid failure.

And without these facts, you really can't assess the situation properly. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if his voters are perfectly fine with Trump's connections to Russian mafia, Putin or any other enemy of the state. There is only one thing that will wake them up. And that's the realization that all the damage that will occur during Trump's presidency will be paid by taxpayer money.

Our next Democratic president should not come in with the desire to unify the two parties. They should come in ready to recriminate Trump supporters, since we cannot move forward with backward people still waiting for the Great White Hope.

I think it's your second option. I don't think they care. I read a story about a longtime Democrat who declared she voted for trump because she was so angry, felt so left out of whatever recovery wasn't coming her way, felt folks like herself weren't being heard and she just wanted to "burn it all down", assuming that by doing so we could start from scratch and build a new Democratic Party. And I'm sure they didn't stop or even slow down to think about what might REALLY happen in response to these very REAL utterances and actions.

They're going with their gut. Emotional reactions and extreme impulsivity. Just what seems to feel satisfying right this minute. Over a longer term? Meh, fuck that. I'm ANGRY!

Problem is - when you're choosing someone to be your leader, you really need to go with your HEAD. Facts and reality and what IS (and does not lie to you or speak with a forked tongue). At least for me, something like that has always been head-over-heart. That's what made me marry whom I married. I made all my job choices that way, too. I never fully trusted my heart on the big stuff. And it's always worked out.
