I am so distressed for our country. How can we get past this nightmare when the Republicans put party over country?

This is a cult of personality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_personality

A cult of personality arises when an individual uses mass media, propaganda, or other methods to create an idealized, heroic, and at times worshipful image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise. Sociologist Max Weber developed a tripartite classification of authority; the cult of personality holds parallels with what Weber defined as "charismatic authority". A cult of personality is similar to divinization, except that it is established by mass media and propaganda usually by the state, especially in Totalitarianism (or sometimes Authoritarianism) states.

As a test whether he quits. Priebus announced that going forward Muslim ban doesn't apply to green card holders.

This apparently goes against Trump/President Bannon's wishes--they seem to want to have shut the door on green card holders, as evidenced by the override of DHS' initial interpretation.

If we are to believe the rouge account, Priebus was expecting to be fired/forced to resign based on his stating a new policy at odds with Bannon. His defense of the order didn't seem that enthusiastic, suggesting he doesn't agree with it.

This does seem to favor the account being legit. I'm still not totally sold though.

Either it is just a big setup or Trump is such a colossal buffoon that staff is genuinely worried. I will say that the WH staff are going to be party loyalists. They might think that are looking at the end of the GOP.

All the staff are party loyalists probably provided through the Heritage Foundation.

I'm sitting back to see if this is real.

"they" are using him, or trying to, but he is so changeable and impulsive that he is not a reliable front man.
It is common knowledge that Trump parrots whoever he spoke to last.
He does sorta listen to Kushner more or less.

Trumps pre-election promises are not valid in the least, since he is a compulsive liar.

the one thin ray of good news is that loud public opinion does resonate with him, and he has so far backed off of some moves.
Has no idea of WHY people were so storngly against the issue, but appears for now there is a bit of ego which responds to negative pressure.

I am wondering how long the Repbs are going to go along with this ruling by edict/EO.
doesn't anyone pass laws anymore in Congress?

Do you think someone so self-interested would inspire loyalty in others? What we have in the White House is a bunch of self-interested sharks who would all gladly devour each other in the name of pursuing their own interests. His only "friends" are people who he pays or people who think they can get something from him.

Leaks from an amateur, two-bit administration led by a buffoon doesn't seem like too much too soon to me. Indeed, it simply solidifies my perception that we have an amateur, two-bit administration led by a buffoon.

Bannon is smiling hard, I'm sure.

And most "thinking people" are smart enough to see through fake Twitter accounts.
