General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI found a link to contact MSNBC. If you want to register your objection to terminating
Joy Reid, hiring Ex-Fox hosts, and losing you as a viewer, try here:
http://www.nbc.com/contact-us
There is a limit on the words so, be concise. I just sent them mine, explaining if they continue to try to be like FOX, they will not only lose everyonE in THIS HOUSE, but they will FAIL!!!!
If you haven't heard, Joy has been working for the last month without a contract and is rumored to be on the chopping block. Their plan is to be a BETTER FOX!

that took quotes from the Page Six article. lol
Sometimes these gossip rags are telling the truth, I guess we will have to wait and see.

(19,565 posts)Since when do we take those sites literally?
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)Same could be said of the folks who believe that someone in the WH has a rogue Twitter account. lol Guess they're clinging to hope that someone in that RWNJ inner circle are pretending to be a Repug. Bannon and the alt-right folks behind that account are prob laughing their asses off-- Dontcha' think?
The person I responded to wanted a link to an article and I gave it to them. You should be asking the person who started this thread-- Bc I'm pretty sure they got the news from Page Six.
herding cats
(19,565 posts)I was essentially agreeing with you and corroborating what you said.
FWIW, I think the rogue Twitter staffer thing is typical twitter folly, too.
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)Sometimes it's difficult to tell on this site. haha
The person who started the thread used "chopping block" and "a better Fox" in their comments. Both were used in the Page Six article.

(44,131 posts)Put references to an original article in a Murdoch publication on other sites. Then all the sudden there are all these multiple articles that show up in a google search. Al Franken explained this tactic really well in his "Lying Liars" book.

(901 posts)real investigative journalists and seem to be hitting back hard lately (from what I've read online). Hoping they're ratcheting up as true journalists. In any case, I've been sticking with Democracy Now, Thom Hartmann, David Pakman, some TYT (though they get on my nerves at times), and newspapers, such at the NY Times, WaPo, Mother Jones, etc.

(3,827 posts)Who has been on their station the longest? Maddow?
I stopped watching them after Keith was fired-- Hopefully Joy will find a better job with an online source.

(27,813 posts)I think he's difficult. I didn't know they'd fired Joy Reid, though. Huh? She seems like a rising star to me.
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)If I were going to watch a news station it would be CNN-- Trump has called them fake news for a reason. Plus, they are hiring an investigative news team with Carl Bernstein to counter the BS coming from the WH.
Olbermann may be difficult, but he's better than most of the "talent" that's at MSNBC right now! The man knows how to write an opinion piece.
LisaM
(27,813 posts)I actually find him a bit pompous, I like him better when he's funny, but that's beside the point. I don't know how he butts heads with the people around him, but it seems to happen everywhere. Is he working for Esquire now?
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)I knew what you meant. He's been fired from Fox Sports, ESPN, and Current TV-- All of those places called him 'difficult'. lol
I don't think he's pompous at all-- He's on the same level as Maddow to me. Both are very capable of carrying a smart news program.
LisaM
(27,813 posts)He acted like he was the second coming of Edward R. Murrow or something. I appreciate him more when he drops the act and is just himself.
bathroommonkey76
(3,827 posts)People would rather have a pretty mannequin reading a teleprompter instead of someone who has a brain-- Keith is better than 80 Don Lemons, 90 Megyn Kellys, 110 Matt Lauers, 130 Brian Williams, and 1000 Rob Ducys.

That's something that never happened to Murrow.

(3,847 posts)These chuckle heads seem to have forgotten their 5 pm. to 9 pm, slots used to be the best watched cable news shows. Getting rid of joy will be the last straw for me. This will be another reason to turn those miserable cowards off forever.
If that talentless box blonde gets any where near Joy's spot, they will lose the last 5,000 people watch their shit shows.

(2,674 posts)Seems like every time I see her show, she has some Fox regular on. Tonight she was having Steve Miller, Jeff Sessions right-hand man on her show. I went to the local news. Not watching Fox crap on MSNBC.
MSNBC will make a huge mistake if they don't sign Joy Reid up, she is go good and on the ball, I love to watch her, They need to put Andrea Mitchell out to pasture.

(14,971 posts)We hear MSNBC anchor Joy Reid may also be on the chopping block.
They havent renewed her contract. Shes been working without a contract for at least a month, an insider told us.
An MSNBC spokesperson, however, insisted that Reid is working under contract. And the network wants her to stay.
A rep for NBC said, The only thing Andy Lack is interested in tilting toward is even more good journalism.
I'm not buying this until we get a better source. She is extremely popular and they have her on the nightly shows all the time.
calimary
(81,322 posts)Yeah, I won't believe it til I see it from something more reputable than a Murdock rag.
That said...
I STILL think it's a good idea to let these folks know we loyal viewers will NOT ACCEPT a Pox-Noise-Lite, and we will leave if we see that happening. You touch Joy Reid at your OWN job's peril.
DO INDEED go ahead and register your complaint. This could be a planted trial balloon to gauge public opinion. If they start getting lots of shit for this, then perhaps it will slow them down. They can't afford to lose any viewers.

(856 posts)I checked Mediaite, Huffington Post, TPM--nothing about Joy leaving MSNBC.
Joy is doing great in the ratings & I do not believe MSNBC would cancel her program.

Everyone can go ahead and tell me to fuck off and leave then. *shrug*

(31,261 posts)The air. If the cable channel thinks it can succeed as Fox lite, good luck to them, they will see their mistake soon enough.

(21,163 posts)My hubby still likes to watch. He has it on now and I left the room. I just can't watch their bs anymore and getting rid of Joy Reid was no shock. When they hired Greta I realized no way I am ever going back to be a regular viewer ever again.
They are going to lose even more viewers if they become fox lite.

Below are mostly SALES contact info. HOWEVER, the President and Gen Manager should know how you feel and sales people won't will definitely tell their bosses if they are flooded with calls about the network hosting childish idiots like c oulter.
PLUS, you can bet that the business/corporate e-mail addresses of all MSNBC employees are similar to the ones below.
Most networks expect to be flooded with the special pages and generic e-mail addresses they set up for the viewers and have traditional ones not generally accessible to the public other than other businesses.... or those of us that buy media....

(29,718 posts)Calling sales VPs is a great way to go. I tell them that I will contact their sponsors and tell them I'll stop buying their products if they continue to buy ad time. I find it is very effective. I also note that I am with a group of 100,000 people and will encourage them to do the same.
