My thoughts on the Yates firing

Trump's firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates last night for publicly refusing to follow orders is yet another red flag in the continuous stream of them that have been unfurling since Jan. 20.

This action sends two messages. The first is that the administration will tolerate no official opposition whatsoever. The second is that it has abandoned any pretense of allegiance to the rule of law.

The implication of these messages is dire, and definitely supports the ominous conclusions I have been arriving at regarding America's immediate future.

The moment of greatest danger for the Republic will be the introduction of bills of impeachment in the House, especially if they have bi-partisan support. The Administration absolutely will not accept that form of opposition. A very large, extra-legal response will follow - one that is big enough to take impeachment off the table. There very few things that are big enough to accomplish that feat. Chief among them is a massive apparent jihadi terrorist strike.

I stand my my speculation that we will see such an event either when impeachment is formally suggested, or by the end of one week. whichever comes first.

The reason I give such a short time line is that I judge the situation in the WH to be extremely volatile and unstable. If there is to be an event, it will probably happen before the wheels fall off that clown car.

... I am literally praying that we don't go this route, but I fear you are right.

We all know a "Reichstag fire" would be a gift from God for them - they will shore up support, suspend the Constitution, declare martial law, boost military spending, round up suspected terrorists (e.g. journalists critical of Trump), you name it - everything has been straight out of Hitler's playbook now, as their sycophants sneer at and pooh-pooh any such comparisons, with the predictable invoking of "Godwin's Law" (whatever asshole came up with that as a way to dismiss any comparisons to Hitler and the Nazis, sight unseen, deserves a special place in hell).

I'm an atheist too, but I've been "sending out thoughts into the universe" ever since somebody mentioned Aleksander Dugin, and the penny dropped.

This is beyond frightening.

The administration is deliberately deligitimizing courts, they are going to double down on this. This is a necessary step towards authoritarianism.

I think most of the pieces are in place now. There may be a few small touch-ups in the next two days, but then it will be as good as it gets.

The Breakshit Brigade has already shown us they are capable of moving extremely fast. There are also lots of clues that the organizers (Putin/Dugin et al) have had significant assets in place for a long time - possibly years - waiting for the right moment. Here it is.

The next push will be the big one, and IMO it has to happen before the situation in the WH destabilizes - i.e within days.

it is well documented that russia has been sposoring far right parties in Europe.

In fact, Russia had created a refugee crisis to induce the rise of far right in Europe.

My mention of assets that have been in place for a long time was an oblique reference to the probability that the mechanism that will be used for the next big shove has been in place for a long time. It's far too risky to be moving the whatever-it-is around at the last minute in this environment, so it's probably already where it needs to be, emplaced in calmer times. That would facilitate a very fast reaction to events on the ground.
