A great day for evangelicals!

By advertising the christian preference clause of the muslim ban, the Trump administration has created a vast new vineyard of muslim souls ripe for the harvest by christian missionaries. I bet conversions are going to reach a historic high. Franklin Graham, get your prissy ass over there now!

In fact, I could believe that wonderful Pope Francis would make it a mission to help muslim refugees by baptizing them en masse so they could flee the horrors they're having to live through.

In my OP I was thinking about the fact that many fundie protestant sects take as their prime directive the evangelization of the world.

but then again I know very little as I'm not a religious person. I see religion, no matter whose, as the root of all the worlds problems. So I want no part of any of it.

I'll stick with trying to make this world a better place for all inhabitants

Could it be worse than the penalty for pretending to convert to christianity in order to carry out jihad?

And then we could get to the real nitty-gritty of a presidential commission to examine muslim converts to christianity to judge the sincerity of their new faith. We could create a new cabinet position of Inquisitor-General. I think this is a win-win-win proposition, with the bonus of all those extra souls waltzing around heaven.

I'm trying to be funny and not succeeding. Of course muslims would not forsake their faith to turn to christianity. But in my imagination, the most vicious jihadists would *pretend* to become christians so they could get preferential treatment in admissions to this country. Then the Republicans would have to determine which converts were sincere in their conversions, leading to the cabinet position of Inquisitor-General.

And I'm sure the punishment for forsaking islam is dreadful beyond words; it's just that it's not relevant to my pathetic attempt at a joke.

Just as it isn't in most Christian Sects, or Jewish Sects. Lying to advance your religion, either to proselytize or to protect it from criticism is considered close to godly in some sects. No matter what their holy book says about it.

If the infidel, heathen, apostate, or gentile is abhorred enough by your personal God that it gets you into some form of "heaven" if you kill, steal from, or enslave them just for not believing the same way your holy mouthpiece says they should, they're abhorred enough that it would be a blessing to lie to get close enough to betray them.

I can easily see some ISIL/IS/Daesh convert claiming to be Christian to get in. After all, there have been plenty of examples of former Christian converts to radical Islam since the 1960's even in our own country.

All it takes is one f'ed up young adult wanting to make a name for himself (or herself) and prove to all those people that didn't show enough respect that the U.S. is not so tough...and that person doesn't even have to be a brown-skinned obviously Middle Eastern or African to be a terrorist. Most likely won't be.

really come into play once the Christians start trying to define what makes a True Christian...
As my kids say, #The_Troubles, #The_Inquisition, #KKK.

Once the GOP/Talibornagain/Teaparty cabal criminalizes Liberalism/Secularism, and kicks out the all the other religions and/or avowed Atheists who don't recognize Jesus Christ as either the Son of God or part of the Trinity...
...then they start eating themselves. Until there's only a few regional fortifications of True Believers left in a wasteland of hate and fear. And the rest of the world has walled us off.

That's the logical end game of American conservative thought. Little kingdoms of suspicious true believers worshipping whomever has control of all the local resources.
