If I were an airliner captain

Last edited Wed Feb 1, 2017, 10:31 AM - Edit history (1)

I'd be on the intercom right about now, shouting, "Brace, brace, brace!"

It's never too early to prepare for an emergency. Here is the advice I'm offering my friends. If you have other suggestions, please chime in.

  • Make sure your connections with your relatives, friends and neighbours are tight. Give each other your cell phone numbers. Check in with them periodically, ask them to do the same.

  • Keep your gas tank full. Put a bug-out bag in the trunk of the car with clothes and food. Put several plastic jugs of drinking water in the trunk as well.

  • Have several full jugs of drinking water on hand in your residence.

  • Keep a supply of cash bundled and ready to grab if you have to move suddenly.

  • If you have a gun, make sure it works, and that you have enough ammunition (I can't believe I'm actually saying that.)
I have no idea (on edit: of the exact nature of) what's coming, but from the looks of the last week, this seems like good advice.

Add to that an agreed on plan with a few others of where to go and how to contact each other through other means should cell phones not be an option.

I have property in Canada and have assets in a Royal Bank of Canada Account. Know where along border and coast I can cross into Canada fairly easily in rural areas or by marinas. Have family in Europe.

Not everyone may have these options. But it's important to start thinking about where you go if you are in a large populated area and when the shit really hits.

that wasn't available in the old days, having smoke and carbon monoxide alarms around when we are using fire and such for cooking and heating and lighting, is a cool space age advantage that we have over the past, that never gets mentioned in this context.

40% of the people in my city don't speak English at home. There's little love for Trump here except among the rabid evangelical community, and they are a small minority.

Jerry Brown has already made his position clear, and I'm pretty sure Google's U.S. Doodle yesterday was a message to Trump.

Not after seeing the women's march, and the assemblies at the airport. The population is waking up and mobilizing. Gasoline supplies aren't going anywhere. Neither are the public utilities. If the country can make it through the Civil War and WWII, it can make it through Donald Trump. I'll resist, but I won't panic.

I have a very clear idea of what's coming, though. And whether or not you panic over it, it's always wise to be prepared for an emergency.

If they take control on the internet, they could put a big crimp in the use of the internet, social media and so on in helping the masses to continue organizing a resistance movement.

They are appropriate for any kind of emergency situation - flood, fire, electrical blackout, local riots. Being prepared does not get in the way of fighting.

not because I think the government is coming after me. That just sounds really paranoid. Besides they are going to be busy prosecuting the 3-5 million court cases for their up in smoke voter fraud "cases".

Panic is an emotional mechanism that evolved to trigger your "fight or flight" reflex in response to perceived threats. I perceive a severe threat in these circumstances, so I panic. I also take an analytical approach to assessing the threat, so that keeps the panic in the background most of the time.

The reason you aren't panicking is that you can frame this as a political event, something we are intimately familiar with. However my view is that this is not a political event. It's actually a major transnational psychological attack, probably about to become violent, that is aimed at breaking your country.

You will no doubt think I'm hysterical and paranoid. That is you're right. I will keep speaking my mind.

Put together two very good first aid kits. Keep one in your residence and put the other in your bug-out bag.

**Make sure your first-aid kits include a stock of iodine tablets, especially if you live in or near a large urban center such as Washington DC.

I have a very clear idea that a "Reichstag fire" type event, only much larger, is probably coming very soon.

I have no idea what the actual nature of the event will be. It could be anything from a biological attack on Washington when Trump/Bannon are out of town, to the sabotage of a nuclear reactor, down to simple but major apartment bombings like those that happened in Moscow in 1999.

Whatever it is, it would need to be very large, in order to psychologically swamp Americans who don't support him, allow him to consolidate authoritarian power, take impeachment off the table, and eliminate Congressional opposition to his actions.

It will be blamed on jihadis in order to "mobilize his base" - i.e. unleash the mobs.

My money is on such an event occurring this weekend in DC. My nightmare fear is that it will be a radiological "dirty bomb" strike that includes Congress in its footprint.

This is only my personal fear, based on my own analysis. Who knows, maybe I'm nuts. But it completely fits with the evidence that's in front of our eyes, if we can but look at it with clarity. On the off chance that there's something to it, I thought I should maybe say something.

Sorry I used confusing language. I have clarified the language in the OP.
