I pledge a 24 hour blackout - TURN OFF TV AT 7:58PM Tonight

and don't turn it back on until 8PM on Wednesday.

Stop by the library and get a good book.

If you're in a cold climate, go for a walk in the snow, come home, light a fire, make some Hot Chocolate and listen to some music.

If you're in warm climate, go for a bike ride or take a blanket and a bottle of wine to your local park.

Game night with the kids.

Write a letter to an old friend.

Write a letter to your newspaper.

Sex with your significant other.

Jaws Movie Marathon.

Go see a movie.

Do anything....ANYTHING AT ALL, except give Trump one single, solitary second of your time with his SC Reality Show tonight.

You know, like in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation when Griswold turns on his lights and the power plant had to bring another reactor on line?

I envisioned a Network exec sitting there at 7:57 seeing 17 Million people watching, and then at 7:58 have it go down to about 3 Million.

In my vision, they'd have to shut down a reactor.

Birdman of Alcatraz (1962)
Synopsis: True story of Robert Stroud, the prison lifer who became an expert on birds.
Dir: John Frankenheimer Cast: Burt Lancaster , Karl Malden , Thelma Ritter .

This is a wonderful film on any night, beautifully shot and directed and acted. It's a safe alternative for tonight if you are looking to avoid any news (which I am as well).

TCM can save your life during these troubling times. You need to conserve your sanity. Books, old movies, anything that can empty your mind, if only temporarily, of the depredations we are facing. You will be stronger for it in the morning.

"The digital station for comedy, drama, and entertainment." No news on this station.

However if you want news, BBC World Service is best for USA.
