FFS, Can SOMEONE tell these WH imbeciles WHO Frederick Douglass was, and that he's dead!?

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Wednesday that President Donald Trump "wants to highlight the contributions" Frederick Douglass has made to the country, without giving any indication of what those contributions were.

In a listening session Monday morning to mark Black History Month, Trump described Douglass as someone who "has done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more." A reporter asked Spicer at the daily briefing what exactly Trump was referring to by way of Douglass' contributions.

"I think he wants to highlight the contributions that he has made," Spicer responded. "And I think through a lot of the actions and statements that he's going to make, I think the contributions of Frederick Douglass will become more and more."

Spicer and Trump's use of the present tense to describe Douglass only muddied things, as Douglass, the 19th-century black abolitionist leader who was the first black citizen to hold a high rank in the U.S. government, died in 1895.

...is there some unwritten code that these supremacists and neo-supremacists won't utter any of the accomplishments of these important figures to diminish their roles in our nation's history?

It's a valid argument to suppose these conservatives are feigning stupidity. At any rate, that's not some roadblock that prevents me from taking their bullshit very seriously.

In an espisode of "Hate My Neighbor" on Viceland, the comedian/interviewer/reporter wades into the muck to check out some neo-Nazi groups. (BTW, don't call them Nazis. They prefer the term National Socialists.) Given that they're Holocaust deniers*, it might be fair to assume that they also refuse to acknowledge the accomplishments of anyone that isn't white.

Here's a link to the episode for those that are interested.

*Note: in the episode, when asked if there should be another genocide, the wife of the Nazi National Socialist guy states that yes, there should be "another genocide." She then quickly corrects herself and states there should be "a" genocide followed by a VERY awkward silence. So yeah, there are people like that and for them, Trump probably isn't going far enough.

I'm kidding. I know what you mean. I'm wondering what he is going to do next month to insult the Irish on Saint Patricks Day. So far, he has insulted every other group of people. For many years, the president proclaims March Irish-American Heritage Month. It is also women's history month. That gives him two chances to personally insult me.

Rosa Parks: First black bus driver. She liked to sit all day, so being a driver was the perfect occupation.

Malcolm X: Cartoon name for Malcolm Little. The "X" was to "Mark the spot" where cartoon anvils were dropped on him by racist cartoon characters. Saturday after Saturday, mean characters would try to hit Malcolm with anvils, but they always missed.

At the 2007 miss USA competition, the 18-year-old contestant from South Carolina was asked why she thinks a fifth of Americans cannot locate their country on a map, to which she responded:

of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims have been born of earnest struggle. The conflict has been exciting, agitating, all-absorbing, and for the time being, putting all other tumults to silence. It must do this or it does nothing. If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both."
