(31,121 posts)the damage they will do will be SO much worse than what we have seen so far.
If someone doesnt stop them in 2 years nothing will remain.
Courts to go to to sue a company for selling you a product that harmed or killed you? Or water that poisoned you? No, those courts and rights are almost gone now (as in who is in charge now), Gorsuch and anybody else appointed will work with the other 4 to make it impossible for you to do that.
Republican voters will work overtime making sure they lose their rights to sue, they lose their Medicare and Social Security, and when the consequences of these actions hurt them they will turn right around and blame you and me, believe it or not.

(8,203 posts)Kinda makes you just want to surrender..NOPE - ain't surrendering..war, war, this is their plan wwhile they keep us in chaos....pick 1 - just 1 - and focus your attention on that.
I choose the aspect of war..and continue to do research and listen to the best we got - Rachel, who I shut off a year ago - was great last night..with followup by Lawrence..their guests speak to this issue - with credentials and credibility....
The firing of the secret service does have me unnerved..steve clemons is a great source for facts as well..
Be well, do not let the chaos take hold....we are in it together..you are not alone...btw - look for trolls here, that will play into your concern....don't fall for it....

(3,208 posts)And I have a lot of experience at that! This is also what makes it so hard to turn away for a minute. You don't know what they are going to be doing if you don't watch them every minute!
We need some sort of web site that is like a calendar that shows all the crap they have done each day.

(21,088 posts)Which is still to come. I'm saving my emotional energy for that, and just using these introductory outrages as a means of gauging the enemy's true intentions.

(635 posts)I am usually a calm person, but I am getting so angry that when I see repubs on TV and their smarmy hypocritical faces I tell them "F you" and imagine a mass shooting at the event. This can't be good for me since I hate guns. I need to channel this anger into something positive.

(31,404 posts)that could be practiced on them to determine how quickly they'd admit:
they are all liars
they hate America
they don't support and defend the Constitution of the US
they would resign their elected office
And yes. I'm usually a calm and caring person, too.

(24,772 posts)3-2-1 nuclear war.
Of course his supporters will love it because it provides fulll employment (military draft) and helps the economy (his cronies Halliburton, Blackwater).
They are laughing all the way to the bank.
Remember what Trump said during the campaign: why have all these nuclear weapons if we aren't going to use them?

(404 posts)Trump is worse than Hitler, Stalin, and Ghengis Khan combined. Only Bush and Reagan approach his level of destructive capabilities to progressive people.

(10,839 posts)I'm beginning to agree that the chaos and daily outrages are by design. A reporter from Politico said something interesting last night that this could be a concerted effort to numb the American public for whatever the Trump/Bannon cabal has in mind for the future, something, methinks, on the order of a Red Wedding event. Speaking metaphorically, of course.
But inside all this arrogance and shocking incompetence could be a vortex of something truly destructive, as in the actual dissembling of a functioning government and implementation of something far more sinister. Dismissing the traditional press as 'fake news,' while running your own Ministry of Alternative Facts (Kelly Anne Conway is the Queen here), stirring up mistrust, basically kicking dirt into the gears of government and sowing endless distraction, chaos and anger are useful smoke screens to whatever else is going on.
Something Wicked This Way Comes.

(54 posts)Kind of like compassion fatigue, but the disasters are man-made and intentional.
I'm not sure if the goal is to numb us for some truly awful future event, or just to keep us jumping from outrage to outrage and numb/distract us from the things they've already done. How can you even remember to be concerned about Trump messing up our relations with China like 2 months ago, when you're focused on him having banned refugees last weekend?
But, you may be right. During the campaign(!!!), Bannon compared himself to Darth Vader and said things like "were going to build an entirely new political movement..... Were just going to throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks. It will be as exciting as the 1930s, greater than the Reagan revolution conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement.
The American economy was not "exciting" in the 1930s - it was just clawing itself out of the Great Depression. I can, however, think of another country that did have an "exciting" economy in the 1930s, and was also a big fan of nationalism.......

Rule to reduce methane emissions on public and tribal lands
Rule to lessen the environmental impact of coal mining on nearby streams
Rule to increase disclosure requirements for federal contractors
Rule requiring companies to disclose payments made to the U.S. and foreign governments relating to mining and drilling.
I am sure there are many more...
Doing it quick to short-circuit any chance for public reaction.
