This is the first big storm since I retired - so it's the first time I can not stress. I used to work for the County and was required to go to work even if schools were closed...even if the State declared a snow emergency. I worked in a Social Services department, but was still considered an "essential employee" - go figure.

We've got eggs, bread, milk, coffee half and half, apples, bananas etc and plenty of toilet paper and kitty litter.
Also stocked up on wine and vodka. The snow blower is poised at the beginning of our walk and life is beautiful!

I find that the hardest part of my day is just getting out of bed, getting in the shower, grooming and getting into work. Once I am there I'm fine.

If I can avoid all that, it's easy! Nothing better than rolling over, staying in your pajamas and just turning on the computer! No commute! Although my commute is pretty easy, still nothing is better than not having to leave the apartment at all!

We could get a foot of snow and wind gusts of 50 mph. The general manager where I work said the reason we're staying open is that since they have to pay us no matter what, she doesn't have an incentive to close.

I live about a half mile away--not too far--but I am filled with anxiety about walking back home through a foot of snow and gale force winds.
