Thanks to all my secret admirers for the hearts!!

I lost my star today but I will get it back when I get another job, which is why I can't spread the hearts around this year.

We, housemates and I, lost our unlimited ISP (because of the unacceptable cost) today and I am using a tiny 4G thingy from verizon, which I hate and will get rid of soon too for the same reason... Not sure how or when this will get resolved so I may be a little scarce for a few weeks... but I am ready for a break from all the dismantling of our country for a little while. I think I'll investigate whether I should run for office in my area.

Meanwhile, if I am not posting comments that is why, but I will be thinking of everyone here, maybe just lurking as this is one of my news hubs.

I'm in a new and very red county, but there could be some hope, maybe a Congressional spot... most of my legal knowledge is at the federal level.

Thanks for the confidence! I have one person on my side so far!

I plan to switch to them this week. WAY less $$ and unlimited data far beyond what I would use even if I used it for a hot spot.

Oh, and if you are in a low coverage area they'll even put a booster in your home.

Just something to think about!

I saw an ad on my hmate's teevee last night and have been thinking about it. Didn't know about the contract thing though. Just got home from the city, I was shopping at the RadioShack, a mom&pop store and looking at TracPhone and Net10... I'll have to look into the one you mentioned before I fork over the cash. I appreciate the info!

It was some articles like these that got me thinking about it.

It looks like they'll be a major player with more rural coverage. And I am SO rural, lol.

but it's still 30 minutes to a town/small city (used to be 1 hour) and 1 hour to a big box city which used to be 2 hours of driving.

I'll look into what's available, it sounds pretty good. My roomy that has the teevee is on a free rural access program and just uses the antenna on the house. Not sure about how that all works out, he get CBs all the time, ABC some of the time along with several PBS channels and some obscure yet generic-like channels I've never heard and two that are the same thing which he jokingly calls "the 'Walker, Texas Ranger' channel" because that seems to be all that airs on that one. I haven't had a teevee in decades so I have to learn this stuff from people who have them.

As for the phone/Internet thing, I think I need something that has wifi since I need that more than the actual phone part. I've been using a cheap flip phone forever and getting one of those big things that I can't stuff into my back pocket will require a lot of adjustment, I feel like I'm giving up a freedom that I rely on.

I just have to earn some cash first. I am in a bit of pickle right now with hiring freeze for most federal workers (I'm a saesonal-1039, like a majority of us in his area) and hoping my job from last year gets funded again or I get something similar with the same agency. Otherwise it's figure out something in the private sector and probably look into starting my own business, not sure I want to do that considering the major shift we're experiencing of late. Just had lunch with a long-time friend who owns a business, hers is doing okay since the summer revenue makes up for the winter when it's decidedly slower and she owns a bar.

At least I have a better set of prospects having relocated last year. Time will tell.

I'm feeling okay, just a little wary of the current situation. Politics determines a lot of stuff in my area and it's hard to put your finger on one single things or any dominant point of view among the locals... it's a unique environment here.

Something always turns up so I am enjoying a little down time.
