Sarah Palin touted as US ambassador to Canada? You betcha!

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/08/sarah-palin-touted-as-us-ambassador-to-canada

Much of her life has played out like a Canadian stereotype: from her favourite food of moose stew to extolling the virtues of hockey moms and her love of snowmobiling.

But after a White House spokesman refused to rule out the possibility that Sarah Palin could be the next US ambassador to Ottawa, few in Canada seemed to be embracing the prospect of the former Alaska governor taking up the role.

“Sarah Palin as ambassador?” New Democrat MP Charlie Angus asked on Twitter. “Well that would show how little Steve Bannon and his pal @realDonaldTrump think of Canada.”

Others dismissed the idea as simply fake news or alternative facts, while some wondered if this was an early April Fools joke from the White House.

in case this becomes a reality.

Let me begin.

We're SO SORRY Canada, Donald Trump did not actually WIN the election, only our electoral college. It's complicated. Please understand that the greater majority of us regret that our country has now burdened you with one of our dumbest citizens. If one of your linguists is able to unravel the mystery of her speech, please do us the courtesy of providing us a translator.

Or not.

Again. We're VERY SORRY.

He was the finest foreign service officer of ANY country I have ever known. Smart, educated, multi-lingual, personable, and willing to get his hands dirty. When he was Canada's ambassador to Zaire, he jumped in to an epidemic outbreak and got into the camps helping out the sick. When Bill Clinton left office, he went to his last posting as Canada's ambassador to France, where we used to get together on occasion (Canada--kudos on the the Canadian embassy residence on the Faubourg Ste. Honoré--WOW, what digs!).

He is so 180° from Sarah Palin, I can't imagine the insult to Canada it would mean to send Sarah Palin to Ottawa to be our ambassador there.

I REALLY hope all such talk is just some sick joke--although since all of Trump's other appointments so far have been sick jokes, too, I can't dismiss it out of hand.

Sparklemoose doesn't really want a job. She is flim-flamming the cretins to make money and doesn't actually have to work. This ambassador thing is kind of like actual work. Far too inconvenient for a quitter like her.

maybe total immersion could... nah, keep her confined to wherever she is. She's been pretty quiet lately and I couldn't be happier about it. Besides, Canada could reject her and send her packing.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/canadians-freak-as-sarah-palins-name-comes-up-again-as-ambassador_us_589cfe7fe4b0ab2d2b13b34a

After White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday refused to discount the possibility that President Donald Trump might name Sarah Palin as the next ambassador to Canada, Twitter exploded with negative comments north of the border.

But first to complain were politicians. New Democrat Party member of Parliament Nathan Cullen told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation it would be difficult to take the former Alaska governor and onetime vice-presidential candidate seriously because she wouldn’t know the truth “if it jumped up and knocked her on the head.” He also compared her to “another Donald Trump.”

Another NDP member of Parliament, Charlie Angus, characterized such a choice as insulting, saying it shows “how little” Trump and Steve Bannon “think of Canada.”

Then the rest of Canada piled on their Alaska neighbor.

31. Justin Trudeau can reject the appointment of Sarah Palin as next U.S. ambassador to Canada

Rumours are circulating that Sarah Palin might be appointed as the next U.S. ambassador for Canada.

Most Canadians don't realize that the Justin Trudeau government can reject her.

According to a United Nations treaty called the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, ambassadors are solely appointed by the country that they will represent.

So U.S. president Donald Trump has carte blanche to name Palin as his next envoy to Ottawa.
