I read a bio of her when I was in 6th grade, and for well over 50 years she's been a hero of mine.

We need criminals like her that will stand up against something that is legal, but horrible.

When relatively young, Harriet Tubman of eastern Maryland managed to escape abysmal life as a slave and lead relatives and other enslaved people to freedom in the North via the Underground Railroad. With determination, bravery and skill Tubman also worked to help freed slaves in Union-occupied coastal Georgia and South Carolina during the Civil War and served there as a scout and spy for the Union army, and more. What a beautiful, regal portrait!

Seriously though, that's a very good photograph. Her face is lovely and her hands are amazing!

Not just how her stoic, piercing gaze gives you every hint of strength, but the CONDITION of the photograph itself!!

She's buried a few yards from our family plot in Auburn. When my time comes, I'll rest eternally alongside her.

Passed her place whenever we drove into town.

I like to sew and the bodice & sleeves of her dress are awesome.
