I was wrong about the Patriots.

I was wrong about the Patriots.

I judged a whole group by the actions of a few. That is never good!

I am so proud of Chris Long,Martellus Bennett, Devin McCourty and Dont'a Hightower in refusing to go to the White House.

Big shout out to Howie's son !!!

It was on another discussion forum:

"I try not to comment too much about what is in the news, but I've seen a lot of hateful comments in recent days about a man who is a constant winner and overachiever, and that's what the people who support him like about him. Yes, he's been caught in some lies and maybe twisted the truth a little, but he's still out there proving his haters wrong time after time. Some people are just jealous of someone who is successful and has money. Throw in a gorgeous foreign model at his side and they hate him even more. You may not have wanted him in his role, but he's there now and there's nothing you can do about it. I know it's just going to get worse, but, like him or not, Tom Brady won the Super Bowl."

He spoke in what I thought was really a pretty remarkably-nuanced way about white privilege, about the desire to balance one's own patriotic feelings towards the flag with his recognition and understanding that not everyone else raised in this country really sees the flag in the same way he does.

I focus on definition number 2 from the Merriam Webster page:

Definition of redneck
1
sometimes disparaging : a white member of the Southern rural laboring class
2
often disparaging : a person whose behavior and opinions are similar to those attributed to rednecks

They're white assholes who openly endorsed a racist pig. It doesn't matter to me if they don't live in the South, and aren't exactly rural; they think like trailer trash, which in my opinion, they are.

I actually hate football, but I must confess I watched the game hoping Brady's empty head would get stomped some more: It's pretty obvious he's not a high level thinker and has a weak mind. I feel ashamed of these violent thoughts, but I confess they're real.

Nelson Mandela is a tiny cell on Robbins Island was decidedly not wealthy, but he had infinitely more class than that asshole Brady.

There's no "upper" in a racist. They're um trailer trash in overly large, garish, trailers.

I am a hillbilly by birth but I am not a redneck by any means.

And more importantly many of the rednecks that I have known in my life had middle class incomes or better even if their jobs were working class jobs. It is a mindset, there are plenty of rich rednecks, half of the fraternities in this country are full of them.

Don't worry about loathing Brady...it is not his fault our value system is so completely wacked that we give millions of $$$ to people who kick a ball around on a field all day long, the Superbowl to me is just symptom of a societal cancer, we have kids going hungry in this country, people living in the streets, and usele @sswipes like this get to be millionaires.

To improve healthcare availability for underserved communities. He also does a lot to fight hunger, as does Belichick. I don't know why either like Trump, but Trump has a way of ingratiating himself to real successful people. BTW, when Belichick went to the White House after winning in 2015, he seem to have had fun, even attending the White House Correspondent's Dinner later that year as a guest of President Obama.

It would take greater integrity to say they wouldn't play for coaches who were caught cheating, a quarterback who has a mountain of circumstantial evidence he cheated and the quarterback who would have been happy to sell their parents snake oil to "cure" cancer/MS/Parkinson's disease that he isn't foisting on his mom.

Not going to the White House isn't exactly MLK going to Birmingham jail or John Lewis getting his skull fractured.

For doing the same type of filming that all other NFL teams were doing? For not knowing that football pressure followed what is predicted by a cornerstone law of nature? For anticipating that physical fitness will be important in a Super Bowl and using their team fitness to cause Atlanta to wilt at crunchtime? For winning a Super Bowl overtime coin toss that millions worldwide were watching? Educate me.

Why spend a day with a short fingered psycho when they can spend that day with their wives and kids?

For anyone who tolerates and supports this fascist regime publicly. Especially anyone who is in a position of influence and power.

And just because he says we should support the inner cities does not make it ok to go soft on a regime that is out to destroy education, wome's rights, the environment, silence science, harass the media, cancel public television, terminate the EPA...the list is endless. If he was a true democrat, he should be appalled at what he is seeing. Friend or not.
