BOOM! Republican who called for another Kent State for protesters resigns, deletes social media accounts, loses radio showSource: Electablog
Adamini put up a Facebook post saying, The violent protests at our universities certainly indicates Portage acacian at the lower level. Im thinking another Kent State might be the only solution protest stopped after only one death. They do it because they know there are no consequences yet.
He doubled down by tweeting, Violent protesters who shut down free speech?Time for another Kent State perhaps. One bullet stops a lot of thuggery.
Both the tweet and the Facebook post were deleted but now Adamini has gone completely silent on social media after facing withering criticism from across the nation. Kent State University itself put out a statement calling the comments abhorrent:

The rightwing exists in a bubble where they can talk like fascists and act like video game barbarians, with the mistaken assumption there is no consequences for their outrageous statements. This guy got called out on his savage remarks, but there are thousands more just out there who are just as depraved, if not worse.

Last night, I watched the PBS "American Experience" episode on Oklahoma City, and there was a good segment about the rise of white supremacist groups. These white males fear becoming a minority in this country. They fear mixed-race people. They fear government in general, but particularly the federal level. These ammo-sexuals especially fear having their weapons confiscated.
These are all irrational fears, but their leaders know how to play on those fears and drive them to take drastic, often illegal, actions. Including and especially murder. Timothy McV. was caught up in this crazy alternate reality and 168 people died as a result. This clown from Marquette MI was exposed and has fallen... for now. And you are absolutely correct, procon, "...there are thousands more just out there who are just as depraved, if not worse."
The most chilling part of the documentary was the closing visual: there are over 500 white supremacist groups in the USA now.
When -- not if -- the Shit-Gibbon is removed from office, who knows how they'll react?

The rise of the angry white male syndrome seemed to begin in the '90's when President Clinton was elected. The economy was starting to roar and people were seeing their financial picture looking better and better, but men like McVeigh and his accomplice (from the thumb area of Michigan) weren't enjoying the fruits of the roaring/changing economy. Hate radio began with Rush and he knew what demographic to target.
The so-called Michigan militia was born and the rise of the gun culture began. Most of this was concentrated in northern Michigan and I'm sure this jackass was sympathetic to their cause if not a result of it. He deserves to be shunned, but I'm sure he has many followers in Marquette or how else did he get elected?

(15,552 posts)that you remember that. It actually just seems like yesterday to me. I started to notice this social phenomenon around 1993 and tried to wrap my mind around it then. Seemed like the tipping point for our culture. When they started going after the Clintons viciously I couldn't understand it. I still remember the newspaper and television news shows starting every report with some over-the-top headline like "Clinton in Crisis" or "the Looming Crisis" regarding the dirt they had dug up about him. So hyperbolic, like the country was going to fold and fall apart because of it. Now we see a true crisis and do you see those kinds of headlines? No.
There were a lot of articles back then on just what was it that they were so angry about? I will never forget one op ed piece about Ken Starr and the writer said, "It's like the guys going after Clinton were the geeky nerds in high school who couldn't get a date for the prom and Clinton was the charismatic guy with the ready smile who girls threw themselves at and they hate him for that." Seemed to sum it up for me.

(129,419 posts)and attempting to ensure accurate historical representation of neglected and marginalized groups, other than the European-descended straight Christian white males, as a vital part of American history. The myths of Christopher Columbus, the happy slave, the "noble savage" Native Americans, and the sleepy hyper-sexualized Hispanic, were exposed for what they were - FAKE. Reports would eventually come out by the end of that decade indicating that in the U.S., whites would eventually become a minority by the mid-21st century.
Clinton appointed the first females for Attorney General and Secretary of State and that (along with the above), caused heads to explode. The irony being that as a southerner, he got much of the southern vote, but after his governance "of inclusion", the "south" that had originally supported the 2 fellow southerners (Clinton/Gore), fled to GOP-land for good.
Basically it was the beginning of a sea change that eventually lead to a black President, and we are now going through the maelstrom of foaming hate and fear of complete annihilation, that the last 8 years seems to have triggered.

I worked with a loud mouthed republican douche during the Iraq war who used to howl "he gassed the Kurds!!! We need to protect Iraqis!!!" when we would argue about justification for the invasion. Then the next day he would say "we should just turn the whole fuckin country in to a glass parking lot"
