Received this email from AARP this morning:

"Dear XXXX,
The new Congress has only been back for a month, but we've heard some pretty alarming talk from some elected leaders about Medicare.

Some leaders are eager to make harmful Medicare cuts a priority this year – even talking about turning the program into a voucher system.

That means more risk of dramatic cost increases, XXXX, plain and simple. These cuts would be devastating for hardworking Americans who have paid into Medicare their entire working lives. We need to make sure Congress knows that you're watching – and that you won't let them increase costs for seniors who count on Medicare, especially for those who can least afford it.

220,438 AARP activists have already said no to Medicare benefit cuts. Add your voice right now: Tell your members of Congress to protect Medicare from benefit cuts!

AARP has been fighting to keep Medicare strong for more than 50 years, and we aren't going to stop now – but XXXX, we can't do it without your voice speaking up too.

That means making sure that every member of Congress – whether they've been on Capitol Hill for weeks or decades – understands that we're counting on them to protect the benefits we've earned, and that it's unacceptable to leave seniors and future retirees with higher costs and higher risks at a time when they can least afford it.

Make sure that your members of Congress hear this message loud and clear: you're watching how they vote on Medicare, and you're counting on them to protect it from cuts. Send your letter now >>

Thanks for everything that you do to protect the benefits that older Americans rely on. I'll be in touch soon with more ways to help keep Medicare strong for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Throughout the 2016 Presidential campaign, you made it clear that you believe that Medicare is a program that works; a program that people love; and a deal with the American people that must be honored. I couldn't agree more.

I worked hard and paid into Medicare my whole life, and these are my hard-earned benefits. But some in Washington just don't get it. They're considering making major changes to Medicare, including benefit cuts that could devastate the tens of millions of Americans who rely on Medicare to afford health care and make ends meet.

You set yourself apart on the campaign trail by rejecting damaging changes to Medicare that would hurt seniors and future generations.

I'm counting on you to make it clear to Congress that it's unacceptable to break Medicare's promise by cutting benefits or increasing costs for seniors and future generations.

Thank you.
