(2,198 posts)we need to link the entire GOP to this proposal and spread the news BUT only if we can get verification from at least two different sources.

(20,821 posts)when my son was born and, even then in the 90's, it was still sometimes being used. I absolutely hated it, for obvious reasons. My son was not "illegitimate", he was a child, period. I even had to train some older, extended family members not to use that phrase. Gah.
And here I thought these people were supposed to be so "pro-life"!

(348 posts)This is just the latest offensive nonsense to come out of the capitol since Trump was selected... The ignorant hillbillies are emboldened and running amok! There will be more to come, I'm sure. If my kids weren't here, I'd have moved west already.

(31,261 posts)Headed blue and can use more liberals. Plus m, their economies are better than that in Tennessee.

(3,077 posts)It shows that there are some very hateful people out there. When they want to stigmatize innocent children, that is just too far. This is totally unacceptable.

(16,883 posts)I live in TN and that's the first I've heard of this bill. A google search only turns up that webpage, which isn't a TN media outlet as far as I know, and references to a bill from last year related to Veternary practices.

(16,883 posts)I lived in Memphis for nearly four years and didn't remember the station ID. It's weird to me this isn't getting larger coverage yet. I'll keep an eye out in the Nashville news if this gains traction and I'll pass it along to you!

(10,173 posts)and it's a sure way to lose the votes of couples, who desparately want to be parents, but are having trouble conceiving.
It's also highly anti-science. Someone should take away their toaster ovens.

(101,390 posts)and that is:
A child born to a married woman as a result of artificial insemination, with consent of the married woman's husband, is deemed to be the legitimate child of the husband and wife.
http://law.justia.com/codes/tennessee/2014/title-68/health/chapter-3/part-3/section-68-3-306
Since that has explicit language of 'woman', 'husband' and 'wife', I can't see this is a direct attack on gay parents. Perhaps there has been a ruling that the same thing should apply to gay parents too, and by getting rid of the original idea, they've seen a way of being anti-LGBT.

(206,278 posts)Once when DL Hughley was on with Bill Maher, he put it so perfectly that it stuck in my mind. He said that they cared about those who were yet to be born, but after that they were on their own! Perverse concept...

(63,221 posts)Why don't they actually do their jobs and get to the task of dealing with the problems that are really plagueing the nation. What about infrastructure, healthcare, retaining SS and Medicare, etc. Why are they wasting so much time on such bullshit issues?

(31,261 posts)Age woman around, everywhere she goes, that is the world they seem to want. My guess is the bill in a closet anti-LGBTQ parenting bill that deny parenting to some, regardless of whether the people can be excellent parents or not.
