All of this has definitely put a wrench in what Putin had planned to do next. Which was to either...
A) "Swap" Edward Snowden in exchange for lifting sanctions against Russia over the invasion of Crimea (something both Trump and Putin were planning to do anyway, without any reciprocation), or...
B) Make it look like 'master negotiator Trump' had DEMANDED that Putin expedite Snowden to the U.S., and Putin did it because he was terrified of Trump. Thus proving that Trump can't possibly be his puppet.
In either case, watch out for Snowden to be the next shiny object intended to distract us.

(1,934 posts)I admit I was a supporter but I became thoroughly disillusioned with Wikileaks & Assange's actions before the election.
Wikileaks were tweeting-right up until election day - links to the ridiculous @pizzagate faux scandal.
This latest tweet should vanish any doubts that Wikileaks and Assange are partisan political players who worked on Trump's behalf.
As for Assange perhaps thinking Trump may be his saviour, I think Trump & his partner Vlad Putin are the sort who dispense with witnesses to their machinations.

(5,955 posts)only interested in leaks that would damage the Democratic Party. He's not a 'neutral' 'whistle-blower' who shines the light on illegal activities by government. All through the election, almost all of what Wikileaks was releasing was just trash-talk gossip that hand nothing to do with illegal activities. It was mostly just stuff from Podesta's email showing Democratic operatives in a bad light. Telling off-color, offensive jokes. People trashing Chelsae Clinton. It was 100% rat-fucker material. Exactly the same kind of stuff Nixon was after when he had somebody break into Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office.
