I call it bullshit, really. Some anonymous person said some other anonymous person said something. I give absolutely no credence to anything said by anyone whose name is not included.

We'd all do well to take all such statements for what they really are: Nonsense.

Naval War College professor. Slightly crazy. (Or very crazy, depending on your POV) However, if he still has contacts within the IC, and I suspect he does . . .

I find no reason to trust what he says, really. Does he still have contacts? Maybe he does. I worked at the NSA myself, a long, long time ago. I still know a couple of people there. We don't talk about what they're doing. Ever. It's not done.

Personally, I'd class that person as a source of bullshit, primarily. There's a lot of that going around from people who "used to be" in the intelligence community.

who grew up during the the cold war, with events like the Cuban missile crisis, nuclear bomb drills at school, and knowledge of spies. Hell, just growing up with 007 starting in the 60's!

None of this is mysterious or surprising. Trump's toast, unless they're in on it.

Trump made the worst possible mistake very early on - he dissed and insulted the spy agencies. And, the dumbass continues to do so today. Talk about digging one's own grave!

Think J Edgar Hoover and MLK.

EM = Email

Full translation -
Now we go nuclear. Intelligence community war going to new levels. Just got an email from a senior intelligence community friend. It began: "He will die in jail."

"He" = Trump

I'd guess that Trump's morning tweet session, combined with this administration's demonstrated disregard for the constitution and their publicly broadcast assertions that they are above the law, have something to do with it.

Trump accused the CIA of being Russia-like before, then went to their headquarters to give an apology. It was, of course, a twisted Trump version of an apology that wasn't an apology at all, but he made an effort at amends.

Then this morning, he tweets this garbage..........

Donald J. Trump ?@realDonaldTrump 4h4 hours ago

Information is being illegally given to the failing @nytimes & @washingtonpost by the intelligence community (NSA and FBI?).Just like Russia

You think the intelligence community will accept another apology?

Could we see the heads of the Intelligence and Law Enforcement communities storming the White House and arresting Trump? It's obvious they think he's working for Russia, how can they let him continue to control our nuclear codes if he is beholden to Putin?

And what Putin has on Trump has to be worse than anything we've heard. They have film of him worse than some gross stuff with prostitutes. They have film of him that would destroy him for all time. Either A) They have film of him with a little girl. B) They have film of him with a boy. C) They have film of him killing a little girl or little boy after raping them.

A sitting president cannot be arrested in the traditional sense. The only way to arrest and/or prosecute the president is through the impeachment process. If the president is convicted by the senate, he could then be sentenced, arrested, and sent to prison.

Feb 2017

I think a more likely "immediate response" would be a public exposure of conviction-worthy evidence; this would essentially force the impeachment process. Even though he wouldn't be immediately removed from office, he would effectively be removed from power.

The problem I see is this - how much of the republican power structure is involved in this situation? Even marginally? They know this sinking ship will take them all down, even the smallest players, so they aren't likely to do anything. They'll cover up, make excuses, etc.....
