Since the Berkeley Yiannopoulos incident with the odd, uncharacteristic violence, I've been wondering where Bannon might set up another opportunity to crack down.
I think that the "rally" cancellation at University of Illinois at Chicago was absolutely planned to make protestors of Agent Orange and his supporters go up against each other.
This quickly pulled together "rally" has the hallmarks of that. My spidey senses are tingling, and I'm predicting some sort of "event" that will give him not only a distraction, but some sort of justification for the Muslim ban or further crackdowns on protestors.
Hoping I'm wrong.
Does anyone have any intel on this?

(268 posts)But I agree. I don't like the timing of this at all. He needs a distraction, and a reason to crack down.

(48,955 posts)He doesn't like being president. He love's milking a fawning crowd.
But, after the inauguration spectacle, I think that each of these events will have less of a calming effect on his ego - the drug will wear off, the coverage will report shrinking crowds and he will be up at 4am rattling off another twitter tantrum.

Arghhh! Never ending campaigning! ☹️

(21,596 posts)Or did you just get tickets to deny crazy Florida Man Trump supporters a chance to attend?

(31,464 posts)The "Orlando Melbourne International Airport" is nowhere close to Orlando. 90 minutes away, in southern Brevard County. But there is also and "Orlando International Airport" (which is huge, and everyone uses to fly into Disney and the beaches). News today has been saying that Trumpsky will speak at "the Orlando airport." So, given the intelligence level of Trumpsky supporters, I imagine a LOT of them will pay $20 for parking to stand outside the concourse at Orlando International waiting for The Orange One to show up.

(31,464 posts)Melbourne Airport was a small regional last time I lived there. But my point is, because the name says "Orlando Melbourne International," most every news service I've listened to says he is giving a rally at "the Orlando airport." I think the name change was pretty stupid.

(100,105 posts)I can only hope after what went down at UC Berkeley that universities are going to start cracking down on this kind of bullshit. All they're doing is an elaborate form of trolling. The only way to stop trolling is to catch them in the act, and you know Bannon, Milo, and his goons are looking to setup the next UC Berkeley incident. The only thing we can do to prevent this from happening again is to be there waiting for them.

(7,286 posts)As posted above there is some confusion as to the location....
In Orlando, I would reckon there would be enough protesters to draw a crowd big enough for some sort of conflict. Parking would be an issue
I have only driven past the Melbourne Airport so I dunno, but it seems to me it would be harder to get a large group of protesters on a week day. But the thing is, the area is so red necky that it would not be hard to get some hot heads out looking to crack some skulls. It seems to me that protesters who travel there could be isolated and attacked.
I think you are on to something there may be violence

(61,698 posts)Near the site to draw his protestors over? Is a rally really that fun?
Or, nearby, call your event the trump rally, hang up some banners and bunting, so they'll be confused about where they are supposed to be.
