Utter disbelief. It is hard to even be coherent.
Our "president" (so-called - always illegitimate in my book) is still holding campaign rallies. It seems some "fan" that worships a cut out of the trumpster took the stage. What show is this - some failed sitcom that I thankfully missed?
A few posts on DU I scanned - Rinse Pubis doubling down on the whole fake news thing (meaning real news is fake, and fake news is real)? Are you kidding me?
I watched a clip briefly of a sniveling clearly troubled person getting far more than his 15 minutes of fame on Bill Maher (yes, he got his ass handed to him - but this asshole does not warrant any publicity at all - he is a poster child for everything that is wrong today in so many ways).
My main impression - we are on a dangerous, slippery slope. That up is down, sun is rain, lies are truth - the whole 1984 thing - it is happening before our eyes. It is a weird whacko religion writ large - that we have that "so'called" president that is making up his own reality - and it magically becomes the reality of a far too big slice of our country.
What the hell - have we lost our minds?
This has gone on too long already - and I don't see it ending well at all.
Shouldn't ALL the news be that Russia - RUSSIA - essentially placed some asswipe as our president? That is some scary shit - and ALL politicians of BOTH parties should be working overtime to get to the bottom of it and do something about it.

(7,968 posts)I'm going to avoid all political stories for 1 week. I have to go cold turkey.
I need the perspective.

(7,968 posts)will be to see if some of the news is so big that it leaks through anyway. I am pretty sure I will be unable to make a whole week without something major happening that I can't not hear about. It is so dark and seems so hopeless right now, I need to gather my strength.
But I also feel that a much greater storm is coming and that is what I need perspective and strength for.

(1,129 posts)Hopefully we truly are in the eye of the Russia Storm ...
Although the Russia related winds have seemingly calmed.. it is likely that the IC is quietly putting all of the pieces together ....
Not only do they have their own FISA authorized surveillance data... but there are several other countries that have been gathering trump/Russia relevant intel from their various operations -- in order to share it with our IC ...
The common theme in comments from those who have been briefed or have direct ties to IC info. Seems to be "we have to be sure we do this right"..
Obviously Flynn is the smallest fish on the menu...
There will only be one shot to make it through the other side of the storm....
Ideally, liberty will prevail....
and the trumpanzee clowns will go straight to jail... otherwise we are pretty much screwed.

tRump is the 'oh, look, shiny!!!' distraction while his 'staff' writes Executive Orders for him to sign without reading , Congress slips through abysmal legislation, and the department heads he appoints destroy those departments.

(34,413 posts)himself with a couple thousand screaming, cheering fans, then he gets to go home, look in the mirror, and tell himself that "the American people LOVE me! They can't get enough of me." He will write off the protests and the "lying media" to Hillary Clinton. This will massage that fragile, pathetic little ego for another week or 10 days, then he'll have to do it again to convince himself that "everybody loves me."
I just can't help thinking how much it must suck to be him. Seriously. To have everything he has and still be so insecure and feeling so inferior that he's got to prop up his ego on such a regular basis. Wow.
And I have a feeling that Mike & the missus are sneaking into the WH every weekend to measure the drapes while 45* is playing golf. After what Pence said to the Ukranian President, I think he suspects that he'll be 46 sooner rather than later.
