Trump is a militarist...we can only fight him by being anti-militarist.

The country needs a choice between a war party and a peace party.

A peace party isn't a pacifist party...it defends the country against external attack...but it stops working on the assumption that the only way it can play a role in the world is to invade or threaten to invade other countries.

This is particularly true in terms of how we relate with the Arab/Muslim world. Our country has been in an uninterrupted military intervention in that region since 2003, and if nothing positive has come of that now, nothing ever can.

And it is now clear that the resources needed for military intervention take up so much of the budget that an administration at war in other countries can no longer do any of the things Democrats and progressives want government to do. From now on, it can only be guns OR butter, never both.

The American people deserve a party that will, at the very least, see the use of force in other countries as a tragic last option and nothing else. They deserve a party that will devote greater resources to life(in the true sense, not the distorted use of the tern "life" used by the "Religious" Right) than death. The deserve a party that admits American power, like the power of all other nations, has limits.

As a party that centers peace, we can win the future. As a party that centers war just as much as the Right does, we can't.
