Meet them. "They're Not The Enemy"

When President Donald Trump attempted to invalidate and discredit the mainstream media a few days ago by calling it "The enemy of the American people," a miracle occurred in the Twitterverse.

Meet them. They're #NotTheEnemy

Almost immediately, the hashtag #NotTheEnemy appeared. And then people began Tweeting the President - from all over the world - with photographs and bios of journalists who had served, and often died, for their country while reporting.

* There is Anna Politkoskya, who was murdered in Chechnya after publically criticizing Vladimir Putin, whom our President respects so highly.

* There are Alison Parker and Adam Ward of CBS News, who were murdered mid-broadcast in Roanoke, VA.

* There is David Pearl of the Wall Street Journal, who was abducted and beheaded on camera in Pakistan.

*There is Marie Colvin, who died covering the Seige of Horns in Syria.

At the top right is a tweet to the President from a Sulome Anderson, who wrote, "This is my dad, Terry Anderson. He was kidnapped in Lebanon and held for six and one-half years. He is #NotTheEnemy."

From a draft dodging idiot, calling heroes the enemy should be expected. Many heroes have died performing a dangerous job and many journalists are among them. Thank you, journalists! I sometimes disagree with you but you are vital to our freedom.

“The first I would call ‘freedom of information,’ which is terribly important. It is a much better phrase than ‘freedom of the press,’ because there are all kinds of information so that the inhabitants of a country can get news of what is going on in every part of the country and in every part of the world without censorship and through many forms of communication.”

destroy the media and the judiciary and who would be left to stop him seizing all power? Certainly not the Repugs, they'd be egging him on all the way, or at least most of them would. Even those that protest would ultimately take no affirmative action to rid us of the 21st Century Hitler.

And NO dictator worked alone. I think the advent of 'Fox News' and the rest of right-wing news/lies was the beginning. The Bush years were a prelude to this administration. It seems to me that the repubs have known about it and are enabling it to happen.

I have absolutely no proof and I am not a conspiracy theorist, these are just my thoughts.

from the intel guy that mentioned it on Maher last night, he was referencing this and the first thing she says Putin did is take down the press in the first year...I have said from day one Trump was following Putin's directions he's not smart enough to come up with a plan like this. http://www.nybooks.com/daily/2016/11/10/trump-election-autocracy-rules-for-survival/

First during the Reagan years, the press is liberal. They do not like coverage of their dirty laundry. They were still angry over Nixon being impeached. That it was the press's fault. I used to hear how the Ran - Contra should never had been covered. The truth is that the media covered Reagan with kid gloves. Then during Bush 1s administration they were livid that there was coverage from Baghdad. Then all through Clinton's administration they hollered that the press was not covering the Monica thing enough and that the press was liberal. During Bush there was only 1 news channel Fox alone. Now they even hate Fox. They hate other countries press also. The BBC, Telegraph, Independent, and Guardian are all liberal news papers.
Blaming schools and colleges, not that simple, was taught to vet from creditable sources. And to be able to use critical thinking skills. Does not seem to be done today. Now several republicans want teachers not to encourage children to go to college. That there are wonderful jobs to be had with just a high school diploma. Mitt Romney and now Kasich this is a big problem. Those jobs are non existent. Funny how their children got to go to college but yours is not good enough. Go forth and flip burgers.
