I feel I've been transported back to 1973....

rushing each morning to find out the latest info from that time zone 3 hours away. On the phone w/ friends talking politics instead of our usual conversations about weed and women. Figuring out who or what may come out today. Dean, Butterfield, Ervin, Segreti,Woods etc.
Who's house will we meet at to watch the hearings. Can I call or get off work early, or go in late....

Well, I'm not quite all the way there, but we're proceeding rapidly in that direction.

Lived through that, too. But as bad as the war was, as bad as the Nixon administration was, and as divided as the country was...

There were still enough good people on all sides that held common ground keeping the republic together.

Today, no!

In 1973 the Democrats held both houses of Congress, and even some Republicans were willing to convene and follow through on actual, honest to God investigations.

I don't see the same willingness among most if any Republicans today.

Not to mention, back in '73 we didn't have Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and their ilk fouling up the airwaves with their trash and propaganda. There was a little thing called "the Fairness Doctrine" that Reagan made sure to eliminate as soon as he got into office.

Whatever comes out on Trump will have to be end-of-the-world awful for the GOP to take him and his posse on.

We shall see....

If there are, and we will see, then it might end in the collapse of Trump. We don't know yet...But we will know soon..perhaps very soon.

the Republicans were slow to come around...at first. Like the Trump klan, they mostly would have let the break in go until the press followed the money. Nixon's immoral silent majority dismissed the whole affair as sour grapes. ( sound familiar ? ) But his attack on the press made them do their job.

It was an "E " ticket ride. We're at the ticket booth.
