Kentucky rep proposes bill only allowing married men with wife's permission to get Viagra

Kentucky Rep. Mary Lou Marzian might be my new favorite elected official. Marzian wants to make sure all of these boys who enjoy interfering with girls’ health rights don’t miss out on the fun themselves! She has introduced a bill, HB 396, which would require at least two doctor’s visits and a permission slip from one’s wife, before a man could acquire erectile disfunction-type drugs.

"I want to protect these men from themselves," said Marzian, a nurse.

HB 396 also specifies that only married men may obtain the drug and requires "a man to make a sworn statement with his hand on a Bible that he will only use a prescription for a drug for erectile dysfunction when having sexual relations with his current spouse."

"This is about family values," Marzian said.

As absurd as this proposed law is, it's nowhere nearly as absurd as the obscene women-as-hosts mentality currently infecting the Republican cult.

Pass this law!

I REALLY resent your remark. There are a LOT of liberal Dems here in KY. Yeah, we have low-info rural areas, and a lot of coal miners who are out of jobs. But... to tar the entire state comes close to getting your post alerted on itself!

Pfizer is currently spending a shitload of money promoting Viagra Single Packs - perfect for "business trips" to exotic tropical resorts.

It should be obvious to one and all that if we're going to have a law like this, it gets juiced up a little bit:

1. Viagra Single Pack is the only authorized form of Viagra in Kentucky.
2. Your wife must deposit a signature card with the pharmacist prior to you receiving your first dose.
3. Only one may be dispensed at a time.
4. To get another one, you must turn in the used packet.
5. On the back of the used packet, your wife must write in her own hand, "I opened this packet myself" and sign it. When the signature is confirmed to be your wife's, you can get your prescription filled.

Why do I get the feeling that if a law like this were to pass, urologists' parking lots in the seven states surrounding Kentucky would be filled with out-of-state plates?

But maybe it'll give a few of them an inkling of what it feels like when the law tries to govern their bodies.

e.g. got to be married to a woman (this part is important), have your spouse's consent, have a waiting period, and if one has a 'nocturnal emission' then the whole thing off.

Write into the law that repeal will require a legislature of at least 40% women, and 2/3rds of the women have to vote to repeal. Probably unconstitutional but when did that stop some laws getting passed?

After all, every woman has the right to have children, so why should her spouse deny her that right? Spouse's going out and getting vasectomies just won't do.

Then it should be "permission slip from one’s FIRST wife".

Because Jesus was very clear that marriage after a divorce is illegitimate.
