RawstoryA Democrat who sits on the U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC) is planning to resign before her term expires amid frustrations about partisan gridlock, the New York Times reported on Sunday.
FEC Commissioner Ann Ravel told the Times in an interview she intended to submit her letter of resignation this week, a move that would open the door for President Donald Trump to make his own appointment to the panel.
The ability of the commission to perform its role has deteriorated significantly, Ravel told the newspaper.
Ravel said she was particularly frustrated about split votes among the FECs three Democrats and three Republicans. The lack of consensus among the FECs members has made it impossible to rein in campaign abuses, she said.
So she's frustrated with partisan gridlock (3:3) - so she will resign so Trump can put a republican in her place - (4:2) - so the gridlock problem can be solved.
** Did a little digging and found out that the FEC has to be 3:3 - dRumpf can't appoint a Republican (but he could appoint Joe Lieberman - or another RINO)
Sacramento Bee
from the article "Trump has the power to appoint her replacement, though the candidate cannot be a registered Republican. The law prohibits more than three members of the six-member FEC from the same political party."
She has done a good job and since her term was going to expire anyway - my judgement was too hasty. (I can definitely understand her frustration)
