From BBC.com:
A Mexican man has apparently taken his own life just half an hour after being deported from the United States.
Guadalupe Olivas Valencia, 45, jumped from a bridge at the border after he was deported for the third time.
He was found unconscious next to a plastic bag with his belongings and died in hospital a short while later.
His death came as the Trump administration issued new guidelines to widen the net for deporting illegal immigrants from the US.

Poor guy. That's just so sad. How many more of these will there be this year? And how many deportees will end up victims of violence in their home countries? Too many. Even one is one too many. RIP Guadalupe.
I have an idea. How about we keep the immigrants and deport Trump? I'm sure Russia will take him.

(743 posts)I worry about the deportees being sent back to Mexico as the drug war has become so violent that it's just not very safe. The same can be said of neighboring countries as the drug war violence has spread. But since Trump, in his infinite wisdom, is trying to make Mexico take deportees from other Central American countries and Mexico laughed him off, deportees from those other countries might be held in limbo for a bit. Which, I'm sure, is just what they need. Gawd, what a clusterf*ck this whole thing is.
As for the media, I tend to go to foreign sources for my news, particularly Spanish language ones as they have a tendency to not mince words. I rather doubt we'll ever hear anything about the fate of the deportees on the M$M.
I rather suspect that Human Rights Watch will track them. That would be right in their wheelhouse but then again, they may be stretched pretty thin as they probably have their hands full with everything else the current administration is doing.
