. . . . . party fucking unity.
NO party has been so far out of power in a VERY long time. There's gotta be some winning. And right now, wining is EVERYTHING.
If you want your pet issue advanced, you first need some power.

(3,040 posts)Since 2000 was a populist. Obama ran as a populist and won. Clinton, Gore and Kerry ran as run of the mill, establishment Democrats. Obama ran on 'pet issues' and won. Maybe, we need to unite behind popular issues, rather than status quo Democratic boiler plate platforms.
So, I think the DNC chair needs to proffer populist platforms or else we are screwed.

Additionally, populism isn't an ideology. It's a political tactic. It makes absolutely no sense in the context of someone not running for an office elected by the people.

(26,045 posts)...but the only way we can lose is (as I've seen a lot of people doing) if we turn this into a surrogate Clinton-versus-Sanders battle. If we allow that to become the dominant theme of the Party, Trump can rest easy, because he and the Republicans will be easy winners for the foreseeable future. For God's sake, end the usual circular firing squad!
