Protesting doesn't get through to him, it just makes the protesters feel good. I guess that's OK, very little else does these days. However, he sees masses of people holding signs and they're yelling, he thinks they're his loyal fans. He can't read well enough to know what the signs say. With limo windows rulled up, he can't hear what they're yelling. To him, it's praise, all praise, all the time.

A more effective protest would be for people to turn their backs as he rolls by. He'd understand that.

Much more closely than they did with war protests during the Bush years. He had an absolute meltdown when he saw how huge the Women's March was- Spicer tried to claim part of them were Trump supporters and he was obsessed trying to prove his inauguration has similar crowds.
People ARE finally paying attention! We all need to show up.

I know at some town halls they did that because their signs were taken away. It can certainly be a striking image to get a large group to do one thing. Could not have worked at the Women's march- too big and diverse. And if that's what you're calling a "let's make a deal audience" I feel sorry for you. The biggest international protest ever and that's what you have to say?

The comparison is unfair, and you know it.

There was no way it could have been construed as pro Trump, and you know it.

Random roadside protests are different, and you know it.

I'm very encouraged by the frequent and varied types of protests out there- and am merely giving them the respect and encouragement I believe they deserve. Trump is pretty much walled off from any protest groups- was even for the few blocks he chose to walk during the inaugural. So don't hold your breath waiting for pics of any protesters turning their backs on him, very few are going to get close enough to do that.
