Issa: Sessions must recuse himself, appoint special prosecutor

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., on Friday said it would be necessary for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself and have a special prosecutor appointed to oversee any legal action brought as a result of congressional investigations into contacts between President Trump's campaign team and Russian officials.

The nine-term lawmaker and former House Oversight chairman told HBO host Bill Maher the House and Senate would look into the matter but was interrupted.

"And Jeff Sessions should recuse himself - the same way Loretta Lynch recused herself - because he was part of the Trump campaign?" Maher asked.

"You're going to need to use the special prosecutors statue in office to take - not just to recuse, that's - you can't just give it to your deputy, that's another appointee."

Issa narrowly won his re-election in California, and knows his chances of loosing in 2018 increase everyday the orange anus sits in the White House running amok. He's a total asshole, but he's not stupid; he knows there is a target painted on his back.

Democrats launch early effort to unseat Ed Royce, Darrell Issa from Congress

Feb. 2, 2017

The Democratic Party has launched an unprecedented early effort to unseat GOP representatives in 20 congressional districts across the country in 2018, including Orange County’s Ed Royce and Darrell Issa.

Royce, R-Fullerton, and Issa, R-Vista, and others are being targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for an early, all-out push by local activists to harness the energy from recent marches, rallies and protests against actions taken by President Donald Trump. Issa also represents parts of south Orange County.

“This unprecedented DCCC investment will help capture that energy, engage voters and help make their voices heard,” the group said in a news release Thursday.

Full-time, local organizers will be hired by the Democratic Party to work with constituents, the release said.

The vast majority of the targeted members of Congress are from GOP districts that voted for Hillary Clinton over Trump, such as districts represented by Issa and Royce. One other Calfornia congressman on the group’s radar is Jeff Denham, R-Turlock, whose district also favored Clinton.

He knows he has to move left or lose his gig in '18. Applegate probably would have beat him were it not for Dem prevarications on the gun violence issue.

We almost picked him off last time.

He's toast this time around if we can hang Trump around his neck.

For him to come out with a categorical statement like that is unbelievable. Issa either smells his own skin burning, or the wind's out of the east and it doesn't smell so good.
