(4,642 posts)Traumatizing children, PTSD and we are paying for it and we, as a country, will pay dearly for it some day and it won't be good. We are the new evil empire.

(3,764 posts)DEA, local police storm into houses with children and terrorize the whole family and sometimes it isn't even the right house. In fact people have been killed "accidentally". In my opinion that people who die in drug raids didn't die accidentally, and if they went to the wrong house it is at the least, negligent homicide.

(14,944 posts)I watched the faces of the immigrants going in and out of Homeland Sec. bldg the other day while rallying in support of a young mom with a 6 and 12 year old who were born here. These people are so vulnerable and my heart is breaking for them. Every person looked terrified. It was really stomach churning.

This is and always has been a nation AND a continent of immigrants....NO ONE, LITERALLY NO ONE is "from here"...even the 'Native Americans' came over from Asia and Africa and we all know that European explorers were not from here either.
This irrational and insane hatred and oppression of immigrants is disgusting and makes me sad to be "american" if that's what it means to belong to this nation going forward.
There is a solution to this problem, but trying every stupid, hateful and bigoted mistake first only ensures more scenes like that. I wish I could get that horrifying wailing onto a audio loop that could be blared through Trump's head every night for 6-8 hours on end...

(2,226 posts)Others in nazi Germany, Poland etc. they were slave labor and that's what they want to do to these immigrants. I read on MJ an article that some of the private prisons that were deemed ddeplorable and people died in, them are being reopened, because they need the rooms, plus renting jail cells. That's how many people they are going to round up. God I'm just so disgusted.

(1,182 posts)No one is "illegal" to exist anywhere. Borders. Walls. Flags. Nationalism. Corporatism. Religious cultism. We just made these things up. None of them are "real". They are all imaginary constructs with the specific purpose of exclusion, oppression and enslavement.
That is the sad, sad, truth. That's why I say it would be smarter for us to simply declare everyone on this planet a "global citizen" and be done with it. It's the only way we're ever going to defeat the ruling 1%, carving us all up into "human resources" to be ruthlessly exploited for the "cause of {fill in the blank}".
They want a "prison planet" of War, Hate and Fear.
We want a Free Floating Stateless Orb of Peace, Love and Mercy.

(16,111 posts)sadly, the majority of people who voted in our current mess had theirs fully removed through watching Faux "News".
It makes me both angry and sad. And it makes me feel like there will be no healing the rift between us and them. Ever.
People who think this is OK or good are simply not people with whom I wish to associate.

(53,061 posts)Felony DUI convictions triggered deportation orders as a legitimate criminal conviction.
When I lived overseas legally I made sure that I respected every law of that country. I have a son in law who is undocumented but can work legally here under a Order of Protection under Obama. He will not drink and drive, will not ride in a car where the driver has had a drink nor will he walk in a cross walk that has a orange blinking light. He educates himself on every law and follows the law at all times. His brother did not and is now in Costa Rica.
If someone is living here and knows that they are illegal then goes out and drinks and drive then they are asking for everything that is coming to them, in my opinion. We have had two very close family friends (from different families) killed by drunk drivers so I consider DUIs a serious crime.
I have seen children of undocumented aliens on TV in tears proclaiming how good their father was and that there was no reason for their deportation only to research and find out that their fathers (like this one) had felony DUIs. The rule that a DUI felony conviction will get you deported is very well known among the migrant community so here is my question: How good a father can you be when you carelessly flaunt a law that is well know to be a deportable offense, for the sake of your children couldn't you forsake drinking or alternatively for the sake of your children couldn't you call a taxi?
From the article:
Romulo Avelica-Gonzalez was arrested Tuesday morning for having a 2009 DUI conviction and an outstanding deportation order from 2014, according to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Under Obama-era directives, ICE focused mainly on criminals and those who posed a threat to public safety
