About the Supreme Court Ruling on the Affordable Care Act
The Supreme Court decision on the federal health care reform law has settled much of the legal uncertainty over how the law will be carried out.
As a Kaiser Permanente member, you need not be concerned about any disruption to your coverage and care resulting from the court's decision.

We are also reviewing the court's decision to determine how it may affect the law's expansion of Medicaid coverage to millions of Americans, which is planned to begin in 2014.

They left a reply box..so I DID:
I am THRILLED to see that the bastards in the republican party did not manage to sink this wonderful plan we have needed for DECADES.
Perhaps in my lifetime, I will eventually be able to CHOOSE my medical facility and my doctors and not be compelled to choose between Kaiser or nothing.
Thanks for your "concern"..

(54,770 posts)to choose. But, it's usually disjointed care by providers who seldom communicate with each other.
Yeah, I have to go to a big clinic, but I'm impressed 7 months after leaving a much more expensive health plan with plenty of choice.
Might as well get used to it because it's the health delivery model most of us will be dealing with in the future.

(793 posts)Nor Cal, that is. I have used most of West Coast Kaisers and they are all good and although expensive have saved my ass more than once. I do have to say, there best location is on Maui though.

(6,671 posts)We got Kaiser for the last 8 years and are really satisfied.
Never had any problems, not many out-of-pocket costs ($5 per prescription/$15 for office visits) and we email our doctors all the time. They always respond back quickly and sometimes fill our prescriptions without seeing us (no charge and quick). That saves us a bunch of time and them.
My pregnancy went from normal to a high-risk at 34 weeks, and, after my son was born, he was in NICU for 14 days. They accidentally mailed us the bill and after calling them, they profusely apologized for the mistake. We never had to pay a dime. If we'd have to pay for that, we'd be in deep, deep trouble.
Also, Kaiser Permanente was rated "A" when it comes to safety:

I am really sorry that a lot of people don't have health insurance and that level of care. Health insurance is a human right!

(103,856 posts)because their god-damned phone robots would not stop calling me
Once you get to be 60-ish, they phone-stalk you night & day to get you to sign up for all their "programs" & "classes".
Nothing I said to them would get them to stop.
I had to buy a burner cell phone so they could have a phone number & then I took the battery out .
We had Riverside Medical Group for most of 30 years and recently (3 years ago) we had only Kaiser or PPO to choose from.. We are measuring their plan with the ones we had for decades..
We DID have Kaiser for a 1 year period about 10 years ago and they managed to misdiagnose a serious eye problem I had & I ended up losing the vision in my right eye.

(6,671 posts)We get phone calls to remind us off appointments and when the pharmacy mails out prescriptions we ordered online. Maybe it is because they have my email address and I get all those newsletters and other stuff via email.
It is horrible that they misdiagnosed you and you lost vision in your eye.
I guess everyone's experience is different.
