CRIPPLING OR ENDING NOAA Trump Goal. Catastrophic For Weather Forecasting.

According to an article in Huffington Post NOAA like EPA targeted for severe cuts perhaps even dismantling. Such action would jeopardize our weather satellite system that we use to forecast server and dangerous weather. There may be plans in the works to dismantle NOAA and sell off assets. Because NOAA studies climate change (warming) it is on the block.

In fact Trump & company will cripple science and medical research. We could lose a generation of scientists that take decades to train should they end up unemployed.

This fucker is so damned dangerous it is terrifying.

Trump is only the rubber stamp that the Republicans needed to bring an end to NOAA! Ending NOAA has been one of the main targets of Republicans for years, now!

So, let's put the blame where it needs to be put...on the Republican controlled Congress(and you can count on certain Democrats joining in, Manchin of WV comes to mind)!!!

to supply accurate weather reporting and prediction. Right off the top of my head there's the airlines and agriculture. I'm sure we can all think of others.

My local weatherman does a good job of tracking storms and reporting local conditions, but his prediction data comes from NOAA.

This is truly frightening.

Remember the Eddie Murphy movie about orange futures? Now add heating oil, gas, wheat, corn, on&on...
The ultimate in insider trading to the new owners and death/destruction to those who cannot pay.
Some evil russian is pissing his pants over this thieving prospect and WE paid for those satellites. The bush idiots suggested the same idea years ago. The traitorous freaks don't stop, time for a 2018 purge.

that has the latest tech and enhanced resolution, and have another replacement for another older satellite in the pipeline... although I guess that will be toast now.

Plan to privatize most forecasting would cripple weather service, expert says

Vince Stricherz
News and Information

Legislation now before Congress would prevent the National Weather Service from providing information that the private sector is supplying, or could supply, to the public. That would seriously damage the quality of the nation’s weather forecasting, says an atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on improving local weather prediction.
“It would cripple the weather service and would be a great disservice to the public,” Cliff Mass, a University of Washington atmospheric sciences professor, said of a bill introduced in April by Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa.
“It would very seriously limit what the weather service does,” Mass said. “The weather service would be out of the business of supplying day-to-day local forecasts and weather information, except for severe weather.”

I remember when Santorum wanted to privatize weather agencies in favor of Accuweather, a State College, PA business. Some one pointed out to him that Accuweather gets all of its data from the Government and didn't have the infrastructure to run the weather satellites
