Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai on Wednesday dodged questions about whether he agrees with President Trump’s views of the media.
During an oversight hearing before the Senate Commerce Committee, Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) asked Pai if he shares Trump’s belief that the press is an “enemy of the American people.”
Pai responded by saying that he didn’t want to “wade into the larger political debates,” but that he believes “every American enjoys the First Amendment protections guaranteed by the Constitution.”[/b]
Trump has repeatedly gone after the press as "fake news" and called the media "the enemy of the American people."
