Obviously, the Republicans were not ready to roll out their healthcare reform at this time.

You might think they would have taken a headcount before they brought up such an important piece of legislation??

But, there seems to be quite a few Republicans in the House that are against the entire package? And there might 4 or 5 Republicans in the Senate that are against the bill?

So, why did they bring it up??

They want the checklist covered before 100 days is up, because they're winners, and if anything hasn't been marked up by the time 100 days is up, they're losers.
Republicans don't care if they pass real legislation or not, they just want anything to shove in front of their constituents to keep them happy.
It's all about the image, and saying the right things. It's never about what you actually do, because whatever you do...IOKIYAR.

how to "replace it" and know full well how horrible it is (see cut most of the revenue and deficit spend to keep it in place past their 2018 re elections before pulling the plug and having it blow up on everyone).

Just trying to bully it through.

Trump probably requested Mitch and Ryan to bring it up immediately, even if it isn't ready to go?

He will do anything to get the attention off himself. Especially when it is negative attention.

Russia connection blows up in their faces. To put as much space between it and the mid-term elections in the hopes people will forget who screwed them out of health insurance. And, most importantly, because they are ignorant, evil, little assholes.

To figure out health care is complicated. Obviously they can't be expected to have a coherent plan that would improve on the current situation.
