So about "Death panels."

Whenever a Democratic president has tried to fix the American system of health care, Republicans have screamed "DEATH PANELS."

We all know that their "concern" for the health of all Americans was bullshit. For at least the past 40 to 50 years, the Republican party has turned into a ghoulish gathering of politicians who really didn't give a rats ass as to who lived and who died.

"Can't afford health care? Tough shit."

"Can't get into programs to help you or your children? Tough shit."

These two statements are the basic reality of Republican policy toward health care. They don't give a damn about those who can't afford the outrageous charges of insurance companies.

Or, to be really blunt about it, Republicans don't give a shit who lives or dies because they can't afford insurance.

Obama fixed this problem as much as he could, given the resistance he was facing. And now the Republicans are trying to destroy the minimal benefits he succeeded in putting in place.

We're looking at some really horrible people here who care nothing about those people who are struggling to survive.

Is this the "new reality?"

Is this the country we thought we lived in?

Is this the America that most Americans want?

I don't think so. But far too many have been blinded by the con job being sold by the GOP, and to some degree, by the Trump administration.

There's only one bottom line here. We can't let this stand. We can't allow this to happen. We can't allow any legislation to be passed that says "fuck health care for those who can't afford it." We can't allow the destruction of values that most of us have always held dear.

So what do we do? Many Republicans are already hearing the blow back at town hall meetings. What every one of us must do is to make clear to every politician in office that if they don't block this poison, they are finished. Many elected Republicans are already feeling the heat. We have to let every elected Democrat understand that there is no "common ground" here. We need to let them know that we will bury them in the next election if they don't openly and loudly oppose this horror.

That's what we can do. Beyond that, write, protest, be loud, and oppose everyone you know who is gobbling up the crap being sold.

It's time for every single one of us to stand up, speak our minds, and fight as hard as possible for the basic human values in which most of us believe.

And it's past time for us to strenuously oppose the Republican "Death Panels."
