Report: Arnold Schwarzenegger is Thinking About Running for Senate in 2018

by Ken Meyer | 9:30 am, March 10th, 2017

Arnold Schwarzenegger might be getting back into politics!

New reports indicate that the former governor of California is thinking about running for Senate as a third-party candidate in 2018.

“Right now Governor Schwarzenegger’s focus is on using his platform to bring some sensibility and coherency to Washington by fighting for redistricting reform, like we did in California,” spokesman Daniel Ketchell said to POLITICO. “We are keeping all of our options open as far as how we can accomplish that.”

Schwarzenegger’s political return has been discussed by GOP insiders in California, who say that the timing would be good during the era of President Trump‘s administration. Several of them say that if Schwarzenegger won the seat of Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein, it would allow him to challenge Trump on various political issues, of which some Republicans are still leery of the president’s stance.

If Mr. Meyer wants some credibility with more than just a right wing base, it might be helpful to cease with the pejorative. I got me clue and both mediaite and Mr. Meyer are off my curiosity list.

No thanks.

As he would help moderate the republicans. But given the fact we would probably need california, I would hope he either decides to caucus with the democrats, or doesnt run at all. Please have it be the latter....

He does not seem to be a fully deranged ideologue like most Rs today, it would be nice to have one or two like that in DC. But, no margin for error.

Except for some pockets of the state, most of the crazy RW have left. They don't need a man who nearly bankrupted the state anywhere near a political office after he got elected under the false pretenses of what was done to Grey Davis. Jerry Brown fortunately came back for a 2nd go-around as governor to set the state back on the right path after the Terminator destroyed it.

Rs like their stars. He could run as "The Terminator" or "Commando". Maybe the Rs would dump Trump.

He assured that no R would ever be elected again to statewide office in this state. I'm hoping that Trrump does the same thing nationwide.
