1. That's okay. His remarks praising a traitor will make for good 2018 ad material.

More please. Let him double down with it. There's no way he can say "I didn't know".

as in, why would any minority be wingnut. His wiki says he's 3rd gen. Portuguese and family business. He's pure wingnut, greedy.

Oh & even Portugal has told him to f-off over issues.

11. He has reasons
Nunes has placed himself firmly in the middle of negotiations between the U.S. and Portuguese governments over the future of Lajes Air Base on the island of Terceira in the Azores. Since 2009, the Obama administration has had plans to reduce U.S. personnel at the air base, but has encountered strong opposition from the Portuguese government for a host of reasons, including future costs to the host government. Nunes, believing he is acting in U.S. interests, has blocked the Pentagon from implementing the plan. There are 650 military personnel and family members at the base. The Pentagon plan would reduce that number to some 150. Nunes' plans for the Azores would actually increase U.S. personnel. He is also proposing relocating Africa Command and European Command intelligence centers to the Azores, also contrary to plans by Pentagon and NATO to create a larger intelligence "fusion" facility in Britain.

Nunes is thinking quid pro quo, he keeps the investigation from going anywhere, and Trump will help to make Nunes a hero to the Portuguese government and his Azores relatives!

I guess he thinks he knows better, like Cruz and King know better than doctors the value of palliative care.

Figure on at least 50 days of rolling bad news. They have to spin the bad into good, like spinning gold from straw.

That worked out well in the past, you know.

9. Nunes realistically represents The Azores. He is in nasty battle with Pentagon

Portuguese descent, popular in The Azores where US has a leftover base. Nunes was to move a planned cybersecurity installation to the Azores base where no one else, except maybe Russia wants it.

US and Nato countries want it in Britain at RAF base to benefit from interaction and collaboration.

He insists that he will get his way.

It is possible that Russia has taken notice

Either his only negotiating tactic is never negotiate, never change your position or there is more going on. If too, I hope we never have to see the pictures.

Trump was never willing to back down on his position on Putin/Russia

If Nunes is a Russian catch, maybe Putin provides his captives with a Behavioral Handbook

or maybe he has to please investors in the Azores. He seems to be among the less affluent congress persons.
