I must be naive

I keep hearing people talk about letting their health insurance go because in the long run it will be less expensive.

Yes, coverage is expensive, but not once have I considered it as a real option. Yes I could use the money for something else. No, I don't have any serious health condition(s) (yet).

On the other hand, if I were unable to afford it, I'd be relieved that I didn't have the burden anymore and could still count on some form of health care.

I doubt that those who can even somewhat afford their health insurance will let it go just to save the money.

the birth of my son 42 years ago). I've had a single illness requiring care...but it was the big 'C' and total cost was something like $320,000. I'm glad I had insurance.

haven't got the complete billing yet but my wife carries our insurance through her job.

I think the bill from the doctor/surgeon/hospital/anethesiologist and several mundane assorted

people will more than cover the cost of our plan for the past 3 years.

I just got out of the hospital for gallbladder removal!!

I have a high deductible, but it is nowhere near the $100,000 that I would have to pay if I didn't have insurance. I was in there for 5 days. I had to get the endscopic test, a CT scan, a EKG, an MRI & a hydra-scan before they did the laproscopic procedure. Plus all of the good drugs. Yeah - I'm scared to see that bill and the thought of what could have been if I didn't have insurance.
