World-Herald: Rep. Bacon (R-NE) should keep his word, hold town hall meeting

New U.S. Rep. Don Bacon now says he plans to hold town hall meetings with his Omaha-area constituents, softening his previous position that he never would.

His constituents should hold him to it. His latest pledge squares up better with his campaign promise to hold town hall meetings in every part of the 2nd Congressional District.

Bacon says he wants to wait until he and his staff can settle on a town hall format that encourages constituents to treat one another with respect and make sure protesters won’t dominate.

“I think people should be able to speak their opinions and then allow someone else to speak their opinions,” Bacon told The World-Herald’s Joseph Morton last week.
