umm I just saw this. I thought Trump was giving up his entire salary to charity (except a dollar).

(24,259 posts)Trump was LYING when he said he wouldn't take a salary if he won?
(Just in case it's not obvious. )

(34,082 posts)So to fulfil his promise to takd $1 in salary, he would need to donate $399,000. Presumably now he is pledging to donate $33,250.
Of course, he should add in the additional cost to keep the Mrs. in NYC and his weekly vacations to Mar-a-Lago before determining the value of 1/12 of it.
But my guess is he won't donate at all.
Pretty pitiful, considering President Obama - who didn't pledge not to take a salary - donated a little over 2 months' worth of salary to charity.

(100,090 posts)He might do it occasionally to boost his ego or pocket some extra money on the side, but that's about it!

The Staples Corporation has asked me to announce that they will match that donation to your charity for a total of $60,000. Congratulations. The rest of you... get ready to report to the boardroom where someone will be fired."

(1,148 posts)...that people with money in NYC partly look down on Trump because he is relatively stingy and doesn't give enough to charity. All he has to do is donate a tiny amount and his supporters think he's doing something great.
Read the article, it's all about what a bad businessman he is.
