(15,243 posts)Where there are questionable Russian deals why do the names of Trump or associates show up? I take it this was not that recent.

(27,817 posts)... that Trump was elected by people who think he's concerned about bringing jobs back to America.
They cheered at his rallies, while wearing TRUMP hats and T-shirts that all had "Made in China" labels.
How stupid can you get?

(18 posts)I knew something was amiss when Trump ordered the pipeline back on track for completion then said the Keystone pipeline was the ONE project that would NOT be using American steel. Makes one wonder if firing all 47 US Attorneys was just a smoke screen so he could oust NY US Attorney Preet Bharara whose office was investigating the Trump organization. Let's hope in the 24 hrs before he was dismissed that Bharara removed evidence from his office that would implicate the Trump org in dirty business dealings with Russia beyond a shadow of a doubt.

(83 posts)Because Russia is a major steel exporter, it is probable that some product from that country will be used in a variety of American infrastructure projects. We found no evidence that Russia is currently shipping steel to the United States for KXL or Dakota Access pipeline construction, although some of the steel used for KXL cames from Canada, where Evraz has subsidiaries in Regina and Camrose. Further, according to company representatives the material for both pipelines was purchased years before the Kremlin was accused of interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

(35,350 posts)They have US production facilities as well as facilities in Canada. And, of course, Russia.
"Buy American" usually means "buy made-in-America." Not "but only made-in-America by companies owned entirely by Americans." The US steel industry is especially a mess. After the mess in the '70s and '80s a lot of US steel firms were dismembered and sold around the world. With the money floating around Russia starting in the '90s, Russia oligarchs and companies bought up a lot of chunks of those companies, the ones that hadn't been liquidated. The remains of Beth Steel outside of Baltimore was Russian-owned for a while.
