I am coming down on the side of someone other than Trump released those two pages of returns

and it was a test to see the response.

Do we really believe that whomever was responsible doesn't have access to back up schedules and other returns?
And if the individual has that access, why wouldn't there be more released?

If nothing further is released, does that tend to point the finger back to the leak coming straight from Trump? What good does that do him?

No, I think there's more to come--and not from Trump.

The "Client Copy" stamp on the second page is a strong indicator that this came from Trump scheming daemons Mar 2017 #1
well, it's a strong indicator that it came from donnie's copy rather than the irs's copy. unblock Mar 2017 #3
Not necessarily. Lots of people could have access to client copies. mnhtnbb Mar 2017 #5

but i'm sure there's a whole list of people who would have had access to it, from donnie's family and staff to his legal and accounting teams. in theory, any of them could have done it with or without his authorization.

I doubt Trump would even know where to find them. He'd probably need an assistant or secretary or
bookkeeper or accountant to retrieve them for him.

And there could be copies of returns he provided for deals he made with financial firms.

There are lots of places that client copies could be found, IMO.

every time a loan or casino regulator asked for them.

His returns, with that marking, are probably scattered in lots of places.

I would like to offer another angle: If trump leaked his own Return; he could have fake figures in that Return; couldn't he?

So if returns show up that don't verify the numbers--and the WH has confirmed fake numbers--that does not help
them.

I think if they were fake there would have been a no comment from the White House.

No, the WH turned around and attacked the media as doing something illegal by publishing them. Why bother if the numbers are fake?

Seems strange that the 45regime would leak it with client copy on it.

1. In the short term this release eats up media air time that would otherwise be focused on the potentially very serious issues of Russian hacking, corrupt business dealings, lies about Obama wiretapping, countless other lies, travel ban failures/no policy successes, disastrous health care plan, low poll numbers, etc.

2. The release seems relatively unremarkable other than revealing that he made a lot of money that year and paid a lot of taxes. Those are probably the very best cherry picked tax documents they could dig up to help reinforce his self-image as a yuuuuuge success and feed his starving ego.

3. This release may put the tax issue to rest for some who may have had lingering concerns about it. Some supporters may now say "SEE, HIS TAXES SHOW HE'S A YUUUUGE SUCCESS SO SHUT UP ABOUT IT AND MOVE ON!"

I think he probably did it in service to himself yet again.
